Thanks for the suggestion. Like bro maxilife1 said, I should've read a few pages back regarding the dust. I'm going to IKEA this week to check on Expedit or Detolf. Maybe after I finish building my Pet Shop.

2014, need to save money for the upcoming sets. Big sets like Simpson's House and Metalbeard's Sea Cow are very very tempting. Not to forget Parisian Restaurant! Buy maybe I'll that for later. Gotta buy Town Hall first, then Palace Cinema. LOL

can try this, its Billy from IKEA with glass shelves. Saw it in the fitgher aircraft collection thread

10197 Fire Brigade officially discontinued. RIP 31st Dec 2013. Of course production of the set would have stopped months before that... Having said that, you can still find it in the open market at decent prices... Don't think you can get it below RM700 anymore but RM800-900 would be a good price now me thinks. icon_rolleyes.gif

With Modular Buildings, unless you have deep pockets my advice to you is don't look back! Buy what's available now and make this your starting point in your Modular Buildings collection. nod.gif

My guess is 10211 Grand Emporium will be discontinued end of this year. So if you need to plan this will be my suggested list in order of priority:

10197 Fire Brigade (must buy in 1st half of 2014)
10211 Grand Emporium (must buy before 3rd quarter of 2014)
10218 Pet Shop (Preferably start shopping for it in last quarter of 2014)

Once you have the above you can take a breather and slowly buy the newer Modular Buildings one by one each year if you can tahan... lol!
It will reach Malaysia, don't worry about that part. Worry about the price only, at over 2k pieces this is Modular Buildings territory... unsure.gif

I am getting this set for sure, one set can complete an iconic Simpsons family collection already.  rclxms.gif

Damn!! My 2014 shopping list suddenly got much longer! Initially quite safe with only the 10243 Parisian Restaurant in my list. Then heard about the new trains and now this!! doh.gif

My Groupon order also received this morning. Got a heart attack when I saw the "packaging"... I hope the boxes are in good shape, can't wait to inspect them later.

thks bro..i think thats excellent advice, never look back if just starting modulars. I been afol for a while, but only SW, always liked the modulars, but not enuff to buy....that changed when i saw Parisian Restaurant, somehow it just speaks to me, i love the details...so im going to start modulars as well, and will use your guide to start. GE and Petshop this year. (dont plan to get the fire brigade, cos its not appealing to me...seems bland next to parisian )

Of course it can be done, has been done and will continuously be done.  Just remember to share with us.  Ultimate goal is to achieve price to us @ US$ MSRP x 3.5 or less, including shipping and logistics.

lol...if you can do that..can i just order all i want from you ar? easier then trying myself

Started my modular purchase
1xGE
1xpetshop
5x Parisian

But i deciding now wheter to return the 5 parisians...i didnt expect the box to be so big, now calculating the shipping, even assuming no boxes get damaged in transit, its abit dangerous to bring it in...

got 90 days to decide wheter to return or ship to msia, i might all and keep just 1 for myself

at first though share with some friends the shipping and have 1-2 to sell off...a US friend just got it from legoshop...forgot that California has Sales tax...barger.

can try sell it. just open a new thread in sales garage and update your signature will do. biggrin.gif
*
yea but im weighing the risk. no point making abit per set...but lose so much if even 1 -2 boxes arrive damaged. i dont plan to be new competition to all the taikor sellers here, just want to bring in for own usage and defray abit of the shipping

All the 2014 sets have smaller box footprint per piece count.  LEGO going GREEN.  Save the trees.  Later will have biodegradable bricks and Edible minifigs.  rclxms.gif

ok..will wait till final measurements come in...cos the GE is 5kg volumetric, its huge.
