As for myself I spent my remaining vouchers on a Lone Ranger Silver Mine Shootout @ 30%, not so lucky to get it at 50%... unsure.gif

Yup! It's for you! You were very lucky because there wasn't any on the shelves. I asked the ALJ staff and she went up to check for me. I walked to TRU to get some pressies wrapped and when I returned she had already brought down the few remaining sets of 42005 and 42007, and have already picked the best box and set it aside for me. thumbup.gif Benefited a few other AFOLs too as they quickly grab them! rclxms.gif

Time stamped on my receipt is 8:53pm. I was there in the afternoon around 3:30pm and also didn't see this set. I was there again around 8pm and asked the ALJ staff for it and she was helpful enough to help me go upstairs to check in their store. icon_rolleyes.gif

The price for fire brigade stated in Lego website is discount from Price $149.99 to $119.98..so maens they are clearing the stock and retire this modular building?
*
10197 Fire Brigade officially discontinued. RIP 31st Dec 2013. Of course production of the set would have stopped months before that... Having said that, you can still find it in the open market at decent prices... Don't think you can get it below RM700 anymore but RM800-900 would be a good price now me thinks. icon_rolleyes.gif

With Modular Buildings, unless you have deep pockets my advice to you is don't look back! Buy what's available now and make this your starting point in your Modular Buildings collection. nod.gif

My guess is 10211 Grand Emporium will be discontinued end of this year. So if you need to plan this will be my suggested list in order of priority:

10197 Fire Brigade (must buy in 1st half of 2014)
10211 Grand Emporium (must buy before 3rd quarter of 2014)
10218 Pet Shop (Preferably start shopping for it in last quarter of 2014)

Once you have the above you can take a breather and slowly buy the newer Modular Buildings one by one each year if you can tahan... lol!

QUOTE(Seriously @ Jan 6 2014, 04:25 PM)
Need to save save saveeeeeeeeeeeee  thumbup.gif hope it reaches Msia.
*
It will reach Malaysia, don't worry about that part. Worry about the price only, at over 2k pieces this is Modular Buildings territory... unsure.gif

I am getting this set for sure, one set can complete an iconic Simpsons family collection already. rclxms.gif

Damn!! My 2014 shopping list suddenly got much longer! Initially quite safe with only the 10243 Parisian Restaurant in my list. Then heard about the new trains and now this!! doh.gif

Attached Image
My Groupon order also received this morning. Got a heart attack when I saw the "packaging"... I hope the boxes are in good shape, can't wait to inspect them later.

i haven't check mine yet as send back to my hometown where the courier called me just now.

i think fair enough they just wrap bubble wrap as they handling about 600+ order with 50% and free shipping.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Still, it doesn't mean they can be tardy with the packaging... I am all for reducing waste and if the boxes are in good shape (and they do look okay in the photos) then I'm more than happy that they are shipping it like this. However, if my boxes ended up crushed and creased then I won't get the satisfaction of hugging mint boxes... tongue.gif

Now lego as investments?  How long u want to factor in ur discounted cashflow and the npv of such investment.  It takes years like that of the UCS, prolly because the hype was not there...lego was only a BOOM when LGL land their feet in Malaysia.

Just enjoy building it...whats the point keeping it in misb unless space is an issue...
*
I just like to open fresh crispy boxes. laugh.gif

Opening creased boxes makes me feel like I bought a second hand set. tongue.gif

Does anyone know anything about CMF Series 13 or CMF Simpsons Series? Product number is 71005. (71004 is Lego Movie Series)

I can see it in my list and wonder what it has to offer when the sets already includes the main characters? Maybe that's where you will find Itchy and Scratchy? haha! laugh.gif

It is scheduled for May 2014 release. Strange that not much publicity on Simpsons sets so far... hmm.gif

I'll most probably only get that Simpsons house but now that I am collecting all the CMF series I have fallen into that trap and there's no turning back. Every CMF series must buy! Doh! doh.gif Doh! doh.gif Doh! doh.gif

So what BO are you going to do this year for the cannot tahan club? Price does not matter as long as we get it first...  flex.gif  rclxms.gif
*
Yeah, but the prices in that list is not always that attractive... sad.gif

Haha! Slow down on BO this year as I don't have that many sets in my "buy list". In fact, hoping new distributors will save me the trouble of self importing... The problem with self import is I always buy too many, end up jamming up my $$$ and storage issues... Wife nag... tongue.gif

Anybody interested in CMF Series 12? (aka Lego Movie Series?) I'm going to order myself a few boxes, maybe I will do a bulk for that if people are keen...

QUOTE(cuteliz @ Jan 7 2014, 11:30 AM)

I just checked last night, from my supplier before shipping and tax the cost is already ~RM750... I leave it to you to work out how much is the final landed price in Malaysia...

QUOTE(fadzlie @ Jan 7 2014, 12:03 PM)
Hi everyone, i'm new in this thread.

I start buying Lego last year (starting from Shell Ferrari set) and quickly get addicted. I had Lego when I was a kid, but that was ages ago. After the Shell set, I bought a few Creator house sets and then it get worse. I bought 10197, and start looking for more modular. Then I bought 10211. I thought I want to stop collecting modular, and buy smaller Creator house. I bought Tree House and Seaside House, but both can't give the same satisfaction as modulars. So, I bought 10218 knowing they are next in line to be discontinued.

I have a problem to display my collection without collection dust. My room got no air-cond. You guys have any suggestion? Is IKEA glass display a good option?
*
I also considered the Ikea Detolf based on what I read here but after checking out the real thing I changed my mind. Like what bro maxilife1 said, it is not completely sealed so dust will still go in but to me the deal breaker was the build quality. It is not a very sturdy shelf, held up only by the four skinny metal rods. It is wobbly when you gently push it and the glass is very thin and flexes too much to my liking. I can't have that in a house with kids running around...

QUOTE(Ultraman the great @ Jan 7 2014, 02:39 PM)
Actually i have a question on storage of lego boxes. How to you store them? Opened ones I stack them up like wallpaper. The windows are never opened. But somehow the smell of boxes fills up the entire room. I have tried using those tasty hyppo type stuff to absorb the moisture but the same smell still ada.

Any ideas? biggrin.gif
*
I also have that smell, I supposed once you have enough of those boxes in one room the smell becomes very obvious. I even had charcoal in the room but that doesn't seem to work. In the end I spread them all over the house (wherever I can find space to stash my loot) and the smell is gone from the room. I also use those cling wrap films to wrap the boxes (opened and unopened ones) and that may be the solution...

besides, i have a couple of detolf at home. placed them at corners. it wobbles but not too bad.. but they are not suitable for lego displaying. small sets, yes. bigger ones, it'll be a hassle moving them in and out (for play etc.)

billy bookcase, i thought there are the deeper ones? those should be able to hold large baseplates.. no?
*
Haha! Don't wait for my spares because I have not open 90% of my CMF series 1-11... tongue.gif Best to keep them in original bag until I figure out how best to display them...

since you own the biz, you shd be able to get your stuff sent at cost price, which will then in turn be cheaper than resellers punye price, if you get your sources right that is. general rule of thumb, unless you are buying a lot, self importing does not necessary save you much more. thats why there is always a need to buy in bulk or bring in many multiple units to reduce cost per box, which prob also explains why most self-importers also end up selling them.
eh bila you jadi pengerusi?  whistling.gif

My incentive for self importing is usually not because it is cheaper but because I want it in the brown Lego carton box. tongue.gif

If it is not a transparent sticker, maybe you can try this crazy idea of mine? Peel off existing sticker and stick it onto double-sided tape, then cut the outline of your sticker to remove the excess double-sided tape. Just an idea that I had while reading your post, applying glue won't work and will just make it worse...

Take the above with a big disclaimer ya because I have not tried this before!! tongue.gif Best to experiment first before attempting to repair the real thing...

I can recommend where to get good double-sided tapes: Daiso. I find the adhesive in their double-sided tapes to be very strong. icon_rolleyes.gif
