Tips to Survive Major Steam Sales

QUOTE
Rule #1:
From now until the LAST DAY of the sale, if a game is on sale as a daily deal or flash deal, you can buy it. If it is only "on sale" through July 23, pass. Do not buy. Save your money (you may need it).

Rule #2:
Check each day for the daily deals, and monitor flash deals. As games come up that you want, you can get them. Just continue to exercise self control for games that are not a daily/flash deal.

Rule #3:
You can purchase the large packs, such as the THQ pack or Square-Enix/Eidos pack at any time if you wish. It is extremely unlikely that those bundles will be discounted any further, even though individual games in those packs may become daily deals. If you want a bundle, go for it. Lots of games, excellent price.

Rule #4:
On the LAST DAY of the sale, Steam traditionally makes its daily deals an encore of the most popular daily deals from the previous days. Go nuts. Buy everything you wanted. New games are almost never on the daily deals during the last day. At this point, it is safe to buy anything else you've been waiting on.

Rule #5:
If you miss a game from a daily deal, STILL DO NOT BUY IT until the last day. As I said, the final day often recaps previous days' daily deals, so there is still a chance the game you missed could come around as a daily deal again. Don't rush it. If it doesn't, you can still buy it at the standard sale price on the last day, and just be sad you missed the daily deal. Just remember that if you missed it on one day, it's not necessarily too late. Save money by keeping a cool head.

I voted tower wars.. The others 2 are early access...
*
Avoid voting for Early Access.

Steam should not be mixing Early Access games with completed games. Early Access is not meant for everyone to enjoy and not every genre is suitable for Early Access.

Steam is going nuts with random sales.

I never even heard of that game to be honest.

i just think the season worth the dlc other not so much

There are a couple that are worth getting like the Grass Root Pack as the weapon it comes with is pretty funny.

Also, Elements of Destruction with its AoE ability that will lit your enemies butts on fire and propel towards the sky.

Steam greenlight  smile.gif

Greenlight and Early Access are probably the worst thing Valve has done to Steam so far.

Tonnes of shitty games got to Steam, while now, they can release shitty and incomplete games on Steam with no problems.

Rage, why no Aquaria again! All these early access stuff instead

Apa lagi, tarak starbound. If want put early access stuff, Starbound should be there due to sheer demand
*
I think you are right, if they gonna put Early Access on sale, at least put games that are worth buying. Not random half finished tech demos.

I was really interested with Interstellar Marines but looks like they got nowhere till now, sadly.

QUOTE(newuserex @ Dec 26 2013, 06:11 PM)
Better than boring repeat sales I guess, still haven't buying anything since Bulletstorm.
*
I prefer repeat sales than seeing countless Early Access on sale.

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Dec 26 2013, 06:12 PM)
I thought greenlight is games that are finished, but not available for purchase on steam?

Early Access memang  doh.gif
*
No, greenlit games just mean that they can sell the game on Steam, regardless finished or unfinished.

kinda same with the melee weapon name penetrator which as is namesake impale people by their behind and shoot them as projectile. Most dlc are just cosmetics and that doesn't count much.
*
Nah, that DLC is meant for people who had finished the game and wants to screw around.

That AoE abilities does it to everyone in the radius, unlike Rectifier who does it one by one. It is just funny to screw around with it.

Ironically Cook Serve Delicious is also a greenlight game......

I've not looked into the dark greenlight pit and the ones that catch my attention is certified good. Maybe that's why I don't hate it as much as Cheese tongue.gif
*
Please dont misunderstand me, as i dislike greenlight because it floods Steam with tonnes of crappy games while Early Access allows some irresponsible developers to release incomplete games, such as Kinetic Void and Starvoid that barely receive any updates these days.

There are some good impacts of both systems like some amazing games like La Mualana, Next Car Game, Nimble Quest which got on Steam to help its developers in making money. The problem is, both system are abused to the point we got far more rubbish than good games while good game are difficult to find among a sea of crap.

Payday: The Heist is $1.99 on steam. Price error or what? What do you guys think of this game?
*
Might as well get Payday 2.

Payday 1 is just a mediocre to average game but Payday 2 has improved a lot on its weaknesses which made it a much better game.

talexeh would be proud but wifey might rage again if you choose Bastion over her. sweat.gif

QUOTE(Sophiera @ Dec 26 2013, 08:02 PM)
Bastion is also one of my top favourites, right next to Aquaria. The Narrator breathes chocolate.

If you guys got time please do try out Aquaria. It's not perfect, but it's really really underrated
*
What? Did i played the same game as you? Since when Logan breaths chocolate?

Putting Aquaria next to Bastion kinda made me feel like buying it.

Well that part is subjective. My friend didn't like it but I do. The guy from Zero punctuation describes him as breathing chocolate, so that proves I'm not alone in my sentiments

Beginning of the game. for those wondering what we're talking about
*
I actually like the Narrator a lot as what he said adds a lot into the game. I think the game will not be as good without the narrator.

Would be great if my GPS also sound like this. Cool and calm voice points the way.

You made me felt like playing Bastion now after watching the video. sweat.gif

You guys talking about Bastion makes me wanna play that game again..
Wonder how good it will be without the awesome narration lol!
*
You need the narration because it adds a lot into the game. The game wont be as good without him.

Yeah man, No Narrator like eating chocolate icecream without the chocolate. It wouldn't be chocolate icecream.

You can actually buy the Narrator voicepack for Dota 2
*
I actually bought it on the day where the Dota 2 Bastion voice pack comes out despite I dont really play Dota much. It is an amazing voice pack, IMO.

talexeh should promote the Dota 2 Bastion voice pack too.

Love that line when the narrator said:"That good for nothing Cave Johnson put me up for this" in Dota 2.

Ahhaha, enjoy Bastion then.

It is probably my personal GOTY of 2011. It is the second game I ever played where I was emo over something in a game.
