* possibly off topic *
I kind of wonder, with such terror cpus and rams and gc, we still sit there and wait minutes for a game to load, or for our OS to boot up. I eagerly await some realistically priced storage technology that is much faster than our current HDDs I switch on my apple2e and 10 seconds later I can play pacman oredi... |

The sad thing is though, you take a look at the desktop and all you see are overclocking programs and cpu-z, super-pi, etc. The wonderful specs in this comp aren't being put to full use since its just to show off that 1ms shaving off a Super-Pi time. That 7950GX2 is unimportant to this man.

QUOTE(vey99 @ Jun 30 2006, 05:14 PM) * possibly off topic * Apparently according to Intel, the new Intel-based Macs boot fast because they use Extended Firmware Interface (EFI) which makes booting that much faster - and Microsoft doesnt plan to support this anytime soon. I kind of wonder, with such terror cpus and rams and gc, we still sit there and wait minutes for a game to load, or for our OS to boot up. Another tech Intel + MS is working on is storing bootup info on flash memory. |
