Sound wave won't harm your equipment, but only your ears. Vibrations from the speakers are what should of be a concern. But then, there's nothing much to worry about if you're not too picky.

If you ask those 'videophiles', they would say using those more expensive cables will make the colour more natural, more accurate, more realistic, and make you so happy that you want to run naked in the rain. But I'm just as average user so as long as there's a picture on my TV, I'm more than happy.
