just updated my z1 to 1.136 last weekend thru pcc. felt really lazy to go thru the whole flashing via recovery and flashtool to get root. cos the method is not entirely straight forward and with each update from sony also have to go thru such long process... so i just tot what the heck and update it thru pcc. simple.

hope that those simple rooting kit will be updated to root latest sony fw in future

so for this 136 update really felt not much changes to me. the white balance here functions differently from what i flashed the ported version b4. the ported version, i only need to run the white balance and leave everything to 0 and the screen will be as white as it could (too white that it felt abit too cold). but the white balance in 136, if left everything in 0, the screen is in the original yellowish tone. so this time i have to increase the blue to 100 to get the white i prefer.

camera, wifi and battery, so far no noticeable changes

Could you check for me if your stock dialer can search for contacts using the T9 method? Mine now just enters numbers and dial those numbers.

u mean like if i pressing the number 222, it will display phone numbers with 222 or names with aaa, aab, abc,...etc? if that's what u asking, yes, it does search the contacts using the dialpad
*
Yeah, if I want to search for Jason, I would type 52766 but Jason is not shortlisted in the namelist, only 52766 is there and I can choose only to send text message or add to contacts. Strange bug.

Ok I fixed my phone T9 problem by doing a factory reset under Settings. Now to pinpoint which is the offending app that broke my T9.

are you guys using stock rooted rom by nuts ?
*
I am.

z1 owner checking in! used this phone for roughly 1 month and still loving it. find no reason to root it. liked the interface, battery, camera and pretty much everything(comparing to my old s2 =.=).
the only problem is it is kinda hard to find case for this phone and it is pretty hard to handle the phone with its slim and big surface. it slip and drop from my hand once and got a tiny dent in one corner d. sad.gif
*
The moment I got my phone in Sunway Pyramid, I went upstairs to one of the accessories shops at the IT Centre and got a RM30 silicone case. It feels sturdy and it's not slippery.

My uncle cracked his Z1 screen because he said he must have put it in his back pocket and sat on it. He used to sit on his iPhone that way without problems. I guess the Z1 screen is much longer and easier to flex.

I read in the Xperia support stating that the proximity sensor is working slower than expected, up to 2 secs lag. How is it working for you guys. I am still at the previous version and it is really fast. Does it fix the sound enhancement/settings for the new update?
*
Seems ok to me. The screen goes dark immediately when I put it near my ear to answer calls.

can someone confirm if our Z1 already come with screen/back protector? I just notice there is another layer on top of glass for both sides. Is that true? Do I need additional screen protector?
*
No it doesn't come with screen/back protector. It's usually a good idea to have extra screen protection.

QUOTE(lilzany @ Feb 4 2014, 04:41 PM)
how do you update with? PCC or SUS? Do a full factory reset and then back it up back?

oh did the sound enhancement/settings works?
*
I don't use the sound enhancement settings, but I use Xposed Volume Boost mod.

I updated using Nut's method to preserve my root.

Rooting won't void your warranty. Unlocking the bootloader will.

That looks like some hard plastic case. I want something that has the kind of rubber feel. Most importantly, it must be shock absorbent.
*
Look at mine. RM30 at one of the shops outside the IT Centre in Sunway Pyramid. Stiff silicone, excellent grip, all round protection. Only thing is it doesn't have a slot for the magnetic charger so I cut it out with a knife.

May I know what's that for? That little slot by the side of the camera, the one that looks like a slot for the earpiece at the back of the phone. I saw this same hole, like the shape of the earpiece at the front right on the same spot of you casing. As for my casing, I didn't get a cut out for that. And looks like I'm having a hard time looking for transparent silicone case. I think I'm going to try my luck with silicone bumpers. So far, almost every bumper I've seen for this phone are all made from metal/plastic.
*
I don't know what that slot is for. I've never seen a silicone bumper before. Probably the manufacturers know that after a while, silicone will expand and if they are bumpers, they will not fit. Hence bumpers are made of metal and plastic. Besides, bumpers don't protect the back of the phone. Why get something like that?

I got a question for those who Deodexed their rom.

Under Nut's instructions for updating and rooting .136, he has instructions for deodexing the rom. What does he mean by item 1: Make sure you have the flashable ROM installed before you do this.

Does he mean the same .136 firmware file on the removable sdcard used to update the phone's firmware?

DE-ODEX your ROM!
  1. Make sure you have the flashable ROM installed before you do this.
  2. Download C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip (Bittorrent: 412MB), save it somewhere you remember;
  3. Put 'C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip' on (the external) SDcard1;
  4. Create a backup of your phone in CWM or TWRP and don't forget to backup the contents of 'SDCard0';
  5. Flash 'C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip' in recovery, do not reboot but go back to the main menu;
  6. Clear dalvik-cache ONLY;
  7. Reboot to system.

According to Bernard Yeo, as you can refer below.

I am not quite sure about that as I've seen some other bumpers that are made out of rubber silicone out there but not for this phone, of course. So, what do you say about that?
*
I don't know, I just haven't seen silicone bumper cases before. Cases are just not something I focus on. My criteria for phone protection is a screen protector and an all round fully protective case. I would know about Casemate's Barely There case and Ballistic cases, but not bumpers.

If you can't find a bumper case, try to get that purple case. That one looks pretty nice.

You must install this first before apply deodexed rom
1. C6903_14.2.A.1.136.flashable.zip (TWRP)
2. C6903_14.2.A.1.136_Stripped.ftf (Flashtools)

3. C6903_14.2.A.1.136_deodex.zip (TWRP & Wipe Dalvik)

yeah i'm finding thin silicon case that can be used with magnetic dock without cutting or taking off it all the time. seeing the drop test how nothing breaks but the phone can't turn on? I will prefer something shock resistant as well...
*
Get a Ballistic case that has extra shock absorption on the 4 corners and a lanyard strap?

No need to deodex to use Xposed Framework. You have to look for the version tweaked for Xperia Z1. The same Xposed can work for odexed and deodexed.

Just want to check with you if you missed a step. After installing Xposed Framework, when you run the app, did you click on the words 'Framework'? If not, you need to click on it and click on install/Update. Only then app_process and XposedBridge.jar will turn green. Reboot to get it working.
