Anyone here good at programming Tasker? When I have an appointment in my calendar, I want to be able to automatically reject phone calls and reply with SMS. So far I can only set my phone to silent mode. I went to Tasker Wiki but couldn't import one of the profiles available there.

Hi guys i had bought my Z1 about 1 month ago, everything is great until 2 days ago i found that when im trying to unlock my screen, the whole touchscreen is not working, like virtually cannot sense my finger touch at all. The phone is not hang becoz the power and volume button are still working. in the end i need to use the force turn off (hold power + volume up). After a while i restart my phone again and the touchscreen is working.

The problem occurs once in a while and everytime i need to restart my Z1. this problem normally occurs when i am playing candy crush. Yesterday i cannot stand it anymore so i did a format and reinstallation by using the Sony PC companion. After the screen was ok for one day, and today the problem started again.

I am wondering anyone of you experienced the same problem as me? FYI my phone is on the latest version already.  i don't have many apps in my phone, just facebook, watsapp, candy crush... and some common free legal apps.

If anyone knows how to fix it please tell me? Thanks in advance.

Try not to install Candy Crush for a few days?

finally on 4.3 with FULL ROOT biggrin.gif , locked BL

just follow this guide, step by step carefully

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988
after the update you will find the nfc icon missing

go to system folder, look for build.prop

look for the section #NFC, and then the line  " ro.nfc.icon.enable " , set the value to true

reboot and u have the icon back

So for me who has the firmware 290 will need to flash firmware 534, root it, then follow the steps to update to 290? rclxub.gif

It would be nice if there is a planned gathering for Z1 users to get together for rooting their phones. I'll definitely be interested.

just to confirm, your phone is ori malaysia set right? model number c6903 right? are u currently on fw 290?

if yes, then u'll need to download unbranded/generic firmware C6903 14.1.G.1.534 in order for the rooting kit to work.

and if you are currently on fw 290, as pointed out by ZeneticX, you may need to first download and flash the C6903 14.1.G.1.534 commercial version to keep your IMEI.
then download and flash C6903 14.1.G.1.534 HK (or other country at your own preference)
then download 1 of the easy rooting kit to root
then after root, initiate the OTA update to fw 257

done!
*
Ok, I'm going to attempt this.

I downloaded flashtool-0.9.13.0-windows, C6903 14.1.G.1.534 Commercial/Journalist FTF, Kingo Android Root and Kingo Sony Bootloader Unlock. (I don't want to use Vroot because my Chinese is not good).

According to Kingo's website, I need to unlock bootloader first before I can root. Yet I've read @ZeneticX post #1115 he has full root with locked Bootloader. Can someone clarify if bootloader needs to be unlocked first?

So the steps I should take are:

1. use flashtool to flash my firmware down to 534
2. Use Kingo Android Root
3. If I want firmware 290, I follow the guide here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988

Did I miss out anything?

Haha another reason i show this ss xD
It comes with the custom rom..
Basically u dun need to unlock bootloader to root or for custom rom now..
Im not sure why it needs .257 fw but as long as u can get recovery installed on rooted .534, it shud be ok to go straight to the guide for .290
Yes all custom now is full rooted. They solved the partial root issue already.

Any other mirrors for .257 commercial / journalist? Mega.co.nz is down.

For other ftf the download speed is 500kbps. This one is going at 20kbps or says temporarily down.

no its wrong, u cannot root .257.. u can only root .534..
flash to .534, root it, flash recovery and then follow the guide to flash to .290..
*
I must have misunderstood that rooting can be done directly on .257 when I read the guide to flash .290 which mentions the requirements for it is a rooted .534 or .257.

Thank you.

Ok, I've just flashed .534 and rooted it. But now it seems my phone cannot detect my SIM card.

doesnt really matter for now.. just follow the guide go straight to .290 first and see how it goes..

Ok some problems trying to follow this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988
including the youtube video.

Item 6. Install XZDualRecovery 2.7.74 or newer from PC.
I installed it which also installs this Phils Touch 6 on my phone.

Item 7. I followed the youtube instruction on rebooting to recovery. According to the video, after pressing the power button to start up, there is a vibration which I have to press the down button. The video shows it will go to TWRP. In my case, I go back to Phils Touch. This is where I'm stuck.

EDIT: I managed to get root on .290! nod.gif

I discovered sometimes I lose root because my Tasker screen off widget wouldn't work. But a reboot will get my root back. Why does that happen?

For you guys with rooted phones, have you uninstalled any of the Sony and Google apps? I think I wouldn't be using stuff like Sony Select, Sony Movie, Sony Photo, Sociallife news, Walkman, Album, Voice dialer, Voice Search, Google+, Play Games app, Xperia Lounge, Xperia Privilege, Playstation Mobile and Sketch. What's a good uninstaller for these?

Guys, for those who have rooted 290 fw, i am following nut's method to root.

from XDA, i downloaded 2 files
C6903_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 784MB) and
C6903_14.2.A.0.290_Stripped.ftf (21MB)

the first flashable.zip are suppose to flash via recovery, then power off and flash the stripped.ftf file right?

but the stripped.ftf file i downloaded is not in .ftf format . it is in .zip format. how to flash this zip file in flashtool?
*
I did this yesterday. Go to his post and watch his first video. That helped me a lot. In the video at around 5:50 he selects the .zip you mentioned.

the 5.:50 is to flash the flashable.zip via recovery. no problem as i have downloaded the zip file

the problem i am asking after this. after i powered off my phone, i am suppose to flash the stripped.ftf file via flashtool. but the file i downloaded is stripped.zip , not stripped.ftf

can i just rename the stripped.zip to stripped.ftf?
*
As I recalled from yesterday, I did not do anything with the .zip. It would seem like the flashtool knows how to unpack the .zip.

The .zip is supposed to be in your SDCard1. The .ftf is suppose to be in your flashtool's firmware folder.

From Nut's thread:
For C6903: Download C6903_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 784MB) and C6903_14.2.A.0.290_Stripped.ftf (21MB)

800mb .zip file
http://nut.xperia-files.com/?dlid=QzY5MDNf...XNoYWJsZS56aXA=

21mb ftf file.

Done that a few days ago - if you have root, it's easy as going into the /system/app/ folder and delete them off. There are lists online which can guide you on which is safe to uninstall. Alternatively you can also use ES File Explorer to uninstall those apps.
*
Mind sharing which apps on my list did you uninstall? I'm concerned about uninstalling something important and cause a bootloop. I can't seem to find the websites you mentioned.

I just installed Greenify free version today - will update you later on.
Try doing a search in the XDA site, a few lists would come up but I would say to use your own judgment. In a nutshell, you can remove those Sony apps (I didn't remove Smart Connect, Sketch, Update Center, Albums, WALKMAN, FM Radio though), themes, plugins, and Chrome. You can use the Xperia Z lists as a reference as well, they are very similar.
*
I found a thread about removing Xperia bloatware and a couple of members suggested freezing the apps with Titanium Backup to test for potential problems before actually uninstalling the apps.

I didn't notice any inconsistencies with the battery levels between the 2 firmwares.
