Hi guys i had bought my Z1 about 1 month ago, everything is great until 2 days ago i found that when im trying to unlock my screen, the whole touchscreen is not working, like virtually cannot sense my finger touch at all. The phone is not hang becoz the power and volume button are still working. in the end i need to use the force turn off (hold power + volume up). After a while i restart my phone again and the touchscreen is working.

The problem occurs once in a while and everytime i need to restart my Z1. this problem normally occurs when i am playing candy crush. Yesterday i cannot stand it anymore so i did a format and reinstallation by using the Sony PC companion. After the screen was ok for one day, and today the problem started again.

I am wondering anyone of you experienced the same problem as me? FYI my phone is on the latest version already.  i don't have many apps in my phone, just facebook, watsapp, candy crush... and some common free legal apps.

If anyone knows how to fix it please tell me? Thanks in advance.

after the update you will find the nfc icon missing

go to system folder, look for build.prop

look for the section #NFC, and then the line  " ro.nfc.icon.enable " , set the value to true

reboot and u have the icon back

just to confirm, your phone is ori malaysia set right? model number c6903 right? are u currently on fw 290?

if yes, then u'll need to download unbranded/generic firmware C6903 14.1.G.1.534 in order for the rooting kit to work.

and if you are currently on fw 290, as pointed out by ZeneticX, you may need to first download and flash the C6903 14.1.G.1.534 commercial version to keep your IMEI.
then download and flash C6903 14.1.G.1.534 HK (or other country at your own preference)
then download 1 of the easy rooting kit to root
then after root, initiate the OTA update to fw 257

yes its based on .290 fw..so far so good.. battery life gotta wait days to see..
not hard to flash them actually..

alot of tweaks to play with..  i like the pre-installed performance control too

It comes with the custom rom..
Basically u dun need to unlock bootloader to root or for custom rom now..
Im not sure why it needs .257 fw but as long as u can get recovery installed on rooted .534, it shud be ok to go straight to the guide for .290
Yes all custom now is full rooted. They solved the partial root issue already.

no its wrong, u cannot root .257.. u can only root .534..
flash to .534, root it, flash recovery and then follow the guide to flash to .290..

doesnt really matter for now.. just follow the guide go straight to .290 first and see how it goes..

actually it doesnt really matters which recovery u go into, u can flash from any of it..

Guys, for those who have rooted 290 fw, i am following nut's method to root.

from XDA, i downloaded 2 files
C6903_14.2.A.0.290.flashable.zip (Bittorrent: 784MB) and
C6903_14.2.A.0.290_Stripped.ftf (21MB)

the first flashable.zip are suppose to flash via recovery, then power off and flash the stripped.ftf file right?

but the stripped.ftf file i downloaded is not in .ftf format . it is in .zip format. how to flash this zip file in flashtool?

the 5.:50 is to flash the flashable.zip via recovery. no problem as i have downloaded the zip file

the problem i am asking after this. after i powered off my phone, i am suppose to flash the stripped.ftf file via flashtool. but the file i downloaded is stripped.zip , not stripped.ftf

can i just rename the stripped.zip to stripped.ftf?

but i can't select zip file from the flashtool. it only allow me to select ftf file

Done that a few days ago - if you have root, it's easy as going into the /system/app/ folder and delete them off. There are lists online which can guide you on which is safe to uninstall. Alternatively you can also use ES File Explorer to uninstall those apps.

I just installed Greenify free version today - will update you later on.
Try doing a search in the XDA site, a few lists would come up but I would say to use your own judgment. In a nutshell, you can remove those Sony apps (I didn't remove Smart Connect, Sketch, Update Center, Albums, WALKMAN, FM Radio though), themes, plugins, and Chrome. You can use the Xperia Z lists as a reference as well, they are very similar.
