GE60 is around 2.3kg if not mistaken. It's kinda too light for gaming laptop? Wondering if the build quality is good.. hmm.gif

I would choose MSI lighter, nice keyboard, better screen and harddisk.

Hmm that's a tough call.

The Lenovo is a little cheaper. It also is upgradeable in the future should your gaming needs require it (spend 400 rm or so and go SLI potentially). It also has a lot of people on here using it so you're bound to get good support.

The MSI has a faster harddrive, with the specs on both these laptops I'd say that your hard drive will most likely be your bottleneck. Also as far as I know, MSI is more known to be a gaming laptop manufacturer, whereas this seems more like Lenovo's first foray into the gaming scene.

However, I have heard (unconfirmed) that MSI doesn't have good customer service. If you're gaming... things are going to break eventually. I'd look for something that has good customer service.

Personally, I'd go for Lenovo just for the amount of people who have it on here and because it has the potential to be upgradeable.

Definitely the y510p. It can be upgraded to SLi when u have the budget for it in the future. And bear in mind that lightand thin laptop cannot maintain the cool in your laptop. Therefore prepare to feel the heat biggrin.gif

So your budget is within RM3999?

FYI, in terms of warranty service:

1. Illegear/Dell
2. Lenovo
3. MSI
4. Asus

Toshiba/HP/Acer uncertain

Seems you MUST choose between two, then I will not further comment. Most of them have give their best opinions. If you eventually go for Lenovo, storm88 currently has promotion, can buy from him, recommended seller. thumbup.gif

you can PM him for details

Other model are as followed, detail spec you can search online:

Asus N56JR (RM38XX): I7,GTX760M,12GB ram, back lit keyboard,FHD matte with wide angle, 2.1 speaker by sonic, maxx audio software

Illegear RE-15 (RM3599~RM4XXX): default I5,GTX765M,free dos,onkyo speaker,SBS software

ASUS may be worst in terms of warranty service, but spec is ok

Illegear offers fully customization, however, your desired configuration may lead to over budget.

My advice: what you usually do with your laptop?

So from what I understand, a lot of people picked Lenovo for 2 reasons:

Cooling
VGA Upgradable

But wouldn't the cooling issue be easily offset with just having an active cooling pad? While the portability/mobility issue (weight difference) can never be offset no matter what?

But for long term usage, the upgradable VGA makes it leaps and bounds better than the MSI, as they are the first component in a computer to go outdated/under-performing.

Hardcore/basic/occasional gamer?

If you are hardcore (everything high/ultra setting) but you want under budget (<RM4k) then go to Lenovo Y510P dual SLI

If you are basic/occasional (medium to high) then you can go to other brand or Y510P single GC

I would say Y510P will be a better pick, just picked one up for my mom and she has no complains for it,but the glossy screen requires a little more focus if you bring it outdoors that is due to the glare interfering one's view.Otherwise the laptop is good the build quality is almost top notch with aluminums in and out and some hard plastic as well.Besides that, like most mentioned, the ultra bay is actually quite useful in the future can be replaced with various type of accessories. With the price tag being lower than the Msi,you can always use the balance for an SSD upgrade. Then it's pretty much a pocket rocket device you have.
