So I'm entering form 4 nxt year and I don't know which I'm going to choose.
Well I hav no interest on the science field (a little bit interest only) and I don't wanna go art stream.
Shud I drop chemistry or biology? Which 1 is more important?
I saw many ppl regret of taking pure science and get sh1t score during SPM.
If I drop Chemistry, I'll be taking Economics
If I drop Biology, I'll be taking Account.
I certainly don't want account as well as want Chemistry.I dont get the bold sentence.
1. I'm assuming your PMR results are sufficient to get into pure science. if so, ask yourself what next, what career you want to partake in the future
2. You are in a pickle: a no no for science and yet you don't want to go into 'art stream'. bear in mind the subjects you are taking are considered 'art stream'. Too bad Malaysia doesn't have a 'business stream', well they are just names.
IF you are thinking of doing ANYTHING related to science in the future, keep CHEM. Pick physics over bio for general entry requirements. Maths and Add maths are required as well. Only a few courses will require 'bio' as an entry requirement in uni. But of course there's the issue of some courses having prerequisites for SPM results ie 5B in all sciences - phy chem bio m3 and Addm3.
Bear in mind, it may seem fun to just drop subjects that you don't like, but there's a trade off for it. Many traveled down the path of pure science for a reason. Reason being: if, at the end they absolutely abhor science, they transfer to art/business stream in college, uni or even during SPM period provided they are early enough. HOWEVER, it isn't so vice versa. Sub science is dangerous because people might take weird combos that will pretty much cause havoc in future college/uni applications.
Eg, you want to drop chem and bio, which leaves M3, AddM3 and physics. Fine. this puts you in a weird position because engineering and even BSc needs prerequisite of chemistry. (not sure the entry requirements for dipl in eng) so leaving not much choices.
what i'm getting at is that, choose wisely, no problems with sub science, but be mindful that there are trade offs for everything. Unless you've set your mind on something and you are definite that you will head in that direction, try to open up your choices. No shame in going into 'art stream'. Heck, a lot of the top scoring friends in form 3 went into the field of business. And no, you are not smarter just because you are doing science, or will earn more than those who are doing business/art.
