So I'm entering form 4 nxt year and I don't know which I'm going to choose.

Well I hav no interest on the science field (a little bit interest only) and I don't wanna go art stream.

Shud I drop chemistry or biology? Which 1 is more important?
I saw many ppl regret of taking pure science and get sh1t score during SPM.

If I drop Chemistry, I'll be taking Economics
If I drop Biology, I'll be taking Account.

I certainly don't want account as well as want Chemistry.

Most school, Chemistry can't be drop. Only bio/physics subject can be drop.
Why don't want art stream? Since you have no interest in science.

If you really put your heart into it, you will score in flying colors.

Well I would say drop bio of you don't have interest in science cause bio only important in medicine field. Chemistry sort of a middle subject and most probably can't be dropped. Usually ppl in college will take Chem and physics (engineering) or bio and chem (medicine). True that many regret pure science. My old private school only got 7 class science and 1 art class. Now out of my closed group of 10 friends all went to persue law and business and I'm the only one doing engineering lolz

Haha... So engineering good? Heard not for faint-hearted people.

TS, just remind you, that in future what you want to become then you choose which to drop.
Don't worry about it, you still can get medicine if you drop biology.
You still can get engineering even if you drop physics.
And of course, you still can take law.

If you have no intention on going into medicine field. Drop Bio.

But why if you drop Chem, then you'll be taking Econs? Is that a subject combination from your school?

And why don't you wanna go into Arts Stream? What is the reason in it?

Anyway, may I ask what do you want to do in the future? In which field if you can't give a specific career?

I dont get the bold sentence.

1. I'm assuming your PMR results are sufficient to get into pure science. if so, ask yourself what next, what career you want to partake in the future

2. You are in a pickle: a no no for science and yet you don't want to go into 'art stream'. bear in mind the subjects you are taking are considered 'art stream'. Too bad Malaysia doesn't have a 'business stream', well they are just names.

IF you are thinking of doing ANYTHING related to science in the future, keep CHEM. Pick physics over bio for general entry requirements. Maths and Add maths are required as well. Only a few courses will require 'bio' as an entry requirement in uni. But of course there's the issue of some courses having prerequisites for SPM results ie 5B in all sciences - phy chem bio m3 and Addm3.

Bear in mind, it may seem fun to just drop subjects that you don't like, but there's a trade off for it. Many traveled down the path of pure science for a reason. Reason being: if, at the end they absolutely abhor science, they transfer to art/business stream in college, uni or even during SPM period provided they are early enough. HOWEVER, it isn't so vice versa. Sub science is dangerous because people might take weird combos that will pretty much cause havoc in future college/uni applications.

Eg, you want to drop chem and bio, which leaves M3, AddM3 and physics. Fine. this puts you in a weird position because engineering and even BSc needs prerequisite of chemistry. (not sure the entry requirements for dipl in eng) so leaving not much choices.

what i'm getting at is that, choose wisely, no problems with sub science, but be mindful that there are trade offs for everything. Unless you've set your mind on something and you are definite that you will head in that direction, try to open up your choices. No shame in going into 'art stream'. Heck, a lot of the top scoring friends in form 3 went into the field of business. And no, you are not smarter just because you are doing science, or will earn more than those who are doing business/art.

its a subject that is either you score really well, or crack your head trying to imbang it.

and since it's in BM, my as well just forget about it and pick up accounts in college smile.gif

How about getting 12A unable to get JPA to study abroad?

I would insist that you commit to the 3 sciences no matter what.
Saying you're not interested to something at the age of 16,17 is probably
weakly justified, mainly because: you know too little.

These 3 sciences are more-or-less basic sciences nowadays. The depth of these studies at high school level is
so minimal that, whats thought to be advanced, is slowly becoming more and more general,
just like how some physics concept of forces, current, are as handy as household common-sense.
Looking at each one of you as potential thinkers, scientist and leaders;
this 3 sciences basically lay down a foundation for you to pursue anything, without much transition obstacles.

The same cannot be said to the Arts stream for SPM. From the past, malaysia had been treating arts stream candidates as the lower end of the intellectual hierarchy (in general), hence they had not been doing anything to strengthen the curriculum and sylabus at that end. Its lack of standard and credibility, sometimes lead to the bias you see today:
the flexibility to move from Sciences to Arts, but not the other way round [on pursuing tertiary education; unless you are willing to take some funny program to learn 2 years of sciences as a mature student, which is deemed not-very-economic by many people]

I have met real-life scientist from the lab group I am working with, that holds a social arts qualification, but she worked for 8years in the science industry to get here. It wouldn't be easy as compared to heaps of commerce graduates out there that did pure science in high school.

It is not strange to find yourself not being equally interested in all 3 of them. But at some point, all 3 of them will prove to be very useful for you to advance into a desirable career path. You may or may not end up being with all of them, but it is too costly to disregard the option to do so.

As for scholarship, you deserve it if you are competent in the subjects, not because the subject picked was relatively easier to score.
