I not so knowledgeable on filter, so on safe bet, use back Proton 1, not oem. Hamp brand gua tau, amp not sure ler...I did not even read the original one, just buy straight from SC and change outside.

wa, this is very safe, can filter out the possibility of getting "fake" proton oil filter somemore. rclxms.gif
that spare-part shop i went, the uncle boss always got alternatives 1 when the part i want out-of-stock. for proton oil filter i got Proton > AMP > OEM brand

for audi oil filter i got bosch > Mercedes brand. This is too extreme until i go back googled verify it's working then only i dare to buy from him... icon_rolleyes.gif

There are performance filter outside. Not sure how they got performance into there. However some are long life filters that did better than the original. Unfortunately I don't know which one is compatible to ours and really is long life, so safe bet, SC.

Oil filter even when bought from SC is not expensive, only RM12.22, original air filter, Rm16.71. So just change oil filter every 5K and air filter every 10K. Less than RM30, peace of mind and great performance boost (in terms of no reduction in performance ala those used for double the period).

Can't do that for cars like Honda city tho...ni a ma...air filter cost RM70....have to last 20K. Oil filter RM30, double of ours.....last same 5K.

wah, u r the 1st i saw changing the air filter so frequent. usually mine only took out to air-blow cleaning by mechanic during service. now already 33k km. i don't even know the air filter is so cheap, luckily u stated the price. future if got someone wanna promote their oem air filter (non-performance) which is rm25 above, then i will reject. thanks for letting me know.
*
Ooii....air filter need change at lastest 20K mileage. If not, your performance suffers (that translate to decrease power and increased FC gradually, so won't feel until you change new one)....not worth the saving of not changing.

Since air filter pricing is quite affordable, changing at 10K really ensure optimum performance (at least from air flow) at most time, you can feel the engine going strong at all times, not just when change every 20K. Usually at abt 15K, air flows suffers liao, even blowing won't help. By 20K, its dirty, performance already affected for quite some time.

Nobody now goes ayam farm to buy chicken. Kan ada market.  shakehead.gif

5K usage for 6 months lar.....both Civic and City also same, lower mileage, so can afford. After 6 months, my lube guidelines requires me to dump the lube to minimize oxidization acidic damages. Nowadays no money , so sometime drag till 7 months or so if mileage not reach.

Market got middle man....source farm, get cheaper and no need pay extra for middle man..

really? i don't know the air filter replacement interval is 20k, no service booklet when i got the car.  rclxub.gif

btw, power steering fluid need to change or not? my friend called and ask when he doing 40k service, pe also. that shop asked him flush power steering fluid rm100 + something, really is this price ar? i told him i don't know the price so ask him hold 1st.
*
Aiyo, go check the schedule maintenance schedule on the 1st page lar...its mostly listed there

No need flush. 40K why need flush. The last time I change at 40K, sc used the same Proton ATF (gear oil) when changing my gear oil as well. Maybe a bottle or even less. I doubt they flush them, don't know can drain out or not.

It sure works coz my steering roboting whirling sound that have been bugging me since 30K disappeared after that.

Frankly, proton maintenance really quite affordable comparable with other brands, so I go SC buy to ensure original rather than spare part shop, mostly oem ones.

Frankly, I missed that part but I might have some flashback of siphoning out.....no cost, just masuk extra atf lube inside. I think I opened abt 5 bottles in total (including gear oil change).

With that budget, use back the NCT 5 tyres (sv using NCT 5?)

If budget constraint, IMO, the original stock alloy rim already looks ok and its heavy duty to boot. I myself did not change rim nor tyres. If want to change better tyres, RM180 is only enuf to but the stock NCT5.

Actually I quite like NCT5 although I bashed them as well. Before 50% worn, NCT5 perform quite well for avg driver. Grip quite ok in both wet and dry until the sipes hilang at 50%.

Been using NCT5 that come stock with City, Civic and now PE till worn out and change to other brand. Quite tahan lasak (being a hard compound tyre). So have many many years experience using NCT5.

Only after reaching 50% tread, the performance and grip turned DRASTICALLY downwards. That's when I bashed them hard.

wah, NCT 5 super noisy leh.
and gripping was bad (equivalent to no bunga feel when rain) after 50% worn out.
*
That's why I say after 50%, tyre can throw away but b4 hitting 50%, (it takes quite a while to reach that level), its actually ok for avg driver. Perform way better than all those cheapo tyres (do note, its still listed as high performance tyres). Now I guna stock NCT5, 40%, still ok as long as I don't do hard cornering and high speed zig zag in wet.

Try first Michelin PP2 (tak da lagi), PS3 when 70%, V12 80%, then you tell me NCT5 noisy. Albeit all of the those tyres performed way better in wet and dry. Still they were all as noisy if not more.

i never have chance to try those branded performance tyre.
my experience with NCT5 was on ford futura 4.0 at australia, it was quite some years ago. we often will hear the tyre screaming (non-grippy) when cornering at roundabout. inside the car cabin was filled with the tyre note when moving.
*
When the tyres start to scream when cornering at round about, that usually signals its time to change the tyres unless it is still full treaded. That means you're cornering at too high speed at least for this tyre.

I still do cornering here and there (albeit not high speed but fast enuf), not single scream appear. Tyre grip is much lesser now but still within drivable limit with limited cornering at 40%. Once rain, that's another story.

still thought u from kl, i recently changed rim.
trade in the stock sport rim (use 3yrs, calar here and there), new rim (15", lightweight) + nut + center cone + balancing + labor.. topup RM620

https://www.facebook.com/pages/We-Automobile/117130535017497

i recommend u to check on mudah for this shop, more model shown.
By the way, where u guys change tyres? saw always mentioned within RM200..
i changed twice, both also emergency.
1 - 2 tyres at pekeliling, forgot is dunlop / continental shop. RM270 for 195/60/15 sime tyres.
2 - 2 tyres at genting klang, goodyear shop. RM230 for 195/60/15 goodyear eagle nct5.
*
Water fish....kena chop kau kau...

NCT5 ALWAYS below RM200.

Sime tyres cheapo ones but you get it at the price of Michelin PS3 (one of the most overprice brand around).

But then again, it depends on your location, come klang, cheap cheap, the further away, the more expensive. When emergency if ppl charge RM300 also you got no choice but to take.
