mounting a baitcaster to a surf rod is wrong becoz a baitcaster usually have a low line capacity when you compare it to a surf spinning reel.

hmmm how about I mount a " multiplier reel " on a surf rod. multiplier reels are like baitcaster only bigger and higher line capacity. there are two type of multiplier reels though......three if you wanna include electic reels!!! multiplier reels comes in two type star drag and lever drag.

like everything in the world nothing is perfect. you want a powerful reel that's strong enough to fight fish that weight way over 100kg. you'll loose the ability to cast further. Lever drag reels are powerful reels but seriously hard to use. since its made tough to handle hard fighting fish such as kingfish and thresher shark every part of that reel are made with stronger parts even its spool are made with a heavier and more solid steel. which is also the reason why lever drag reels sucks at casting. another cons is that lever drag reels usually come in right handed........no to say there aren't any left handed lever drag......there are.........its just difficult to find. anyway.......from review......one lever drag reels that I would recommend is shimano TLD 2 speed.....


multiplier reels are something like a baitcaster only larger and has a higher line capacity which is why its a recommended reel if you are planning to do surf fishing. multiplier reels usually comes with a line guider. um.....from what I heard those line guider aren't meant to handed strong pressure. anyway with or without the line guider wouldn't make any different in casting. since every multiplier reels comes with the level wind. when you talk about baitcasters......one point that everyone always ask is the type of braking system that that reel had. for multipliers its usually comes with centrifugal braking system. now centrifugal braking system could be bad or good. my banax GMC braking system.......sucks. one website said that abu Garcia ambassaduer 7000i can cast far very well......but I haven't got the time or money to test that fact out yet so can't say.....!
