if you want penn i would suggest at least get penn battle
dont go for anything lower then that

for shimano i do say it more smooth then daiwa in mid /low price reel section
the finishing also is quite good

for daiwa it gave me a feel more durable feeling
not bad also
ryobi ap power also quite nice

daiwa or penn is good as well. It's more of a brand preference for some. Bottom fishing size 3000 reel would do, general purpose reel size.
