As an angler I can say not likely cause anglers are not sexist nor do we like to choose species. As long as the rod bends we are happy. If its not a C&R pond or if in the wild we will happily eat most edible fishes we manage to land as long as its not too small. Very likely too we will be giving our close relatives, neighbors even people we don't really know the catch of the day after the freezer in our houses are already full.

can anyone recommend a rod and reel suitable 1kg-20kg fish? budget of 600-700 total.
looking at spinning reels.
Also prefer as light as possible for more fun but at the same time good enough to land a fish not too easily not too hard either. biggrin.gif

Any reviews or opinion about uglystik? Looking to go for shimano or daiwa reels, as both seem to be reliable. smile.gif oh. I'm planning to go after some toman pacu rohu Mekong, maybe time to time some grouper or GT. hehe. Do share your favourite pond for fishing!

if you plan on going for mekong better take reel size 5k and zagan pe4

need heavier setup

as for uglystick is the legendary wont break fishing rod it live up to it legend
just 1 thing i dont like about it is it weight much heavier then graphic rod , not suitable for casting
