Thanks for the quick alert smile.gif I had actually installed Boeffla-Kernel 5.2-beta2 and the Google Play Services (NlpWakeLock and NlpCollectorWakeLock) was draining my phone like crazy - barely getting through a 17hr day of normal use compared to 4.1 with Perseus kernel which lasted me 24hrs or more.

Once I flashed this new Boeffla-Kernel 5.2-beta3, somehow it went back to normal thumbup.gif

EDIT: Yah, I know it makes no sense unsure.gif

ohh  tongue.gif  okok thanks I go root and dl NA7! thanks sifu!

After root, install "LagFix (fstrim) Free" from Google Play, run it (trim /system /data /cache) and reboot. This will highly likely solve your lag problems. As for the battery drain, check that Google Now is disabled (under Voice Search)
And if still not satisfied by battery life, I highly recommend greenify app to greenify to hibernate any lesser used apps that have wakelocks as well use your wifi/mobile data in the background.

BTW since 4.4 not coming to SIII, Xiaomi Mi3 looks mighty attractive as a replacement if needed (Selling for SGD419 via Xiaomi Singapore online sales in March 7)

True but our smang fellow forumer here is just gonna root only and did not mention wanna install custom kernel smile.gif Really big thumbs up to Lord Boeffla for a great kernel; pity to hear bout his stolen car. Really should buy his donation version of apps if can afford it guys

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Feb 22 2014, 04:39 PM)
what I heard from xda developer forum said that
those list are confirmed getting kitkat only, s3 not listed not means 100% not getting it
and I think everybody will screw samsung like idiot if grand getting kit kat while s3 not getting
yet xiaomi smartphone gonna enter Malaysia market in 2 months time
else just buy s5 or other device (that what I gonna to do)
is life

Am currently anti-Knox, so Samsung has really screwed up as far as I am concerned, they should just prepare a Knox enabled ROM version for enterprises to secure their phones and leave us consumers the normal unlocked bootloaders and normal ROMS. Samsung really is making the same mistakes that HTC made... {sigh}

that is US version s3
everybody also hate it, but can bypass it to root mar whistling.gif
need to trust those developer laugh.gif
btw what mistaken does HTC make o.O ?
*
Heh, mistakes the arrogant market leaders make lah vmad.gif

/begin rant
HTC's
H/W quality issues even for high-end flagship phones (WiFI etc)
Locked bootloaders (then unlocked with no warranty)
HTC marketing (just google HTC phone/mobile mistakes)

Samsung's
H/W quality issues (SDS)
SIM region-locks
Waranty Issues for Knox Warranty flag
Knox for all flagship phones (maybe not so relevant for normal users)
Samsung marketing - nothing so say, spending needed to keep up with Apple

/end rant

But in the end I have to admit, the masses are the ones who determines the success of these companies. Not the enthusiast or fan-boys (i.e. most of us here on this forum)

came across a friend's s3 who keep restarting randomly for no reason..
note that it's not boot loop, the phone was able to start up properly. the reboot comes in randomly after the phone got boot up completely.

i helped him to do a clean flash for the stock rom and stock kernel.. but problem persist..

weird..

any thoughts on this?
*
If not any bad apps, sounds like beginning symptoms of SDS (happened to me)

couldn't be bad apps coz i memang wipe data cache dalvik before flashing the stock rom and kernel..
if it's really SDS.. what is the next thing that happened to your phone that time? o_o
*
Well, I just lived with the random reboots, maybe twice or so a month (normally happens at night during charging so when I wake up, will see the SIM PIN lock) ... then if I remember correctly within 3 months, suddenly started freezing/hanging (tried to fix it during the weekend flashing all the versions of stock ROM - no joy). Freezes without 10 minutes of using any apps that uses WiFi (actually any app, but apps using WiFi freezes it fastest) Had to send it in for warranty. The motherboard got replaced to a new one without the insane chip.
Full story click the warranty replacement link in my siggy.

But mtxx suggesting bout the battery is the easiest explanation I suppose smile.gif
Buy his batteries to test? thumbup.gif

QUOTE(XeactorZ @ Feb 23 2014, 02:52 AM)
sds so far only happen on s3 and note 2
for sim lock, only US variant, I believe other phone also same
and knox, totally bullshit doh.gif
*
That sim region lock thing is really Samsung's plan to prevent grey/parallel imports and does not work properly too. (It is the NOT the US sim carrier lock, that one is straightforward - after contract period over, can request the unlock to be done by the carrier)

I did not simply assume is battery problem hoping U buy my battery.

But if you already try clean install, then should be battery issue.

My friend note 1 and s2 also have weird reboot.
I help them factory reset but still same. They bought new battery from Brotan, then no longer have random reboot.

Brotan from garage sales sells good battery.
Rm 39 if not mistaken, but no NFC.
*
No offence bro, I really do believe also battery problem is the easiest explanation.

Samsung should just come out and confirm it already, will it be out or not sad.gif

QUOTE(noobandroid @ Mar 17 2014, 01:43 PM)
using CM11 now, and working quite well, except the screen off audio stutter issue if using pegasusq governor dry.gif

and that camera issue >.<
*
Just to reconfirm.. this post by mtxx does not help? (or is not a solution?)

QUOTE(mtxx @ Mar 14 2014, 08:02 PM)
oh god......how come people dont get it one, how many times have this been said already.
there is NO, repeat NO MORE CAMERA issues for aosp rom. since last year!

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/...cm10-2-t2505973
this little fix exist long long ago.
please flash it.

to preserve it during nightlies, create a backup script for it. simple step by step guide to do so
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...9&postcount=399

the file you need to preserve after flashing the camera fix is located in
/system/lib/hw/camera.smdk4x12.so

so just add this line
"/lib/hw/camera.smdk4x12.so" into the backup script

and remember to set the correct permission. recommend to use ES file explorer for everything.

you will never EVER EVER need to restart camera ever again. no need for restart camera app also.

Doesn't seem like due to updates or flashing; so simplest explanation is stuck power button?.
Sent it for warranty claim or fix (at your own risk - google for videos showing how to hit the side of the S3)
Good Luck smile.gif
