QUOTE(playxboxwii @ Dec 27 2013, 10:47 PM) Hi If it is a windows security thing then it may not ask but if you have full disk encryption then I do not think android supports it. You might also need to power your hdd separately.I just buy wd hdd 1tb But it has password to open file Can it be open using phone? Will it ask for password? |

QUOTE(B14FX @ Dec 30 2013, 10:55 AM) Hai guys...i'm about to buy note 3 but just want to know any cons of this phone as i already knew the pros. See post 7. Most of the issues have been resolved, no new reports forthcoming in the last month. Anything else is mostly either a telco problem or PEBKAC.And at the same time in delimma between note 3 and note 10.1 2014. Tq in advance. |

Department of Paranoia
How do I use my android phone effectively without google http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1...tively_without/ My current setup: - Thrown out: Gmail. Google Contacts. Google Calendar. Dropbox too, because f*** the NSA snooping my data. - Email at fastmail.fm. It's not free, but once in, you will wonder how you ever managed to survive the bloated monster gmail has become. You quickly realize gmail is slow and horrible. - Email migration was done via imapcopy.pl following this guide. - owncloud hosted on my own NAS. Provides me with Dropbox/Drive-like functionality and terrabytes of space, not to mention calendering and contact-management based on open standards. Only a webserver with PHP is required. MySQL-storage is recommended over SQLite if you plan to add clients all over the place. - CardDAV Sync Beta to get my owncloud contacts on my phone. - CalDAV Sync Beta to get my owncloud calendar on my phone. - Tasks to get access to tasks from my calendar as well. - ownCloud client because that just fits into the overall picture. - MailDroid. Because it's the prettiest email-client out there. I prefer the Pro-version, because I don't like ads. K9 may be completely free, but it's dog ugly, especially on a modern HDPI device running a holo-themed OS. Voila. I'm still on Android and enjoy the freedom that it offers, but I get to keep my data mine, and don't have to worry about Google creep. I get to decide what apps to use to access my data, because all components involved are based on open standards. Now, if something better which is not Android comes along, I will be able to seamlessly try that out without waiting and hoping that Google will eventually "support" it. That's the power of taking ownership of your own data. It feels good! TLDR: No need to jump from one closed ecosystem to another. It wont bring you any good. Edit: This can also be integrated into desktop email-clients like Thunderbird through SOGO connector, both for contacts and calendering. It's not at all limited to Android. Edit 2: Another benefit is that from your phone's point of view (not to mention other clients), things like calendar, contacts and email are now 100% completely separate sub-systems, which puts you at must greater liberty to mix and compose best-of-breed services as you see fit. |

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Dec 30 2013, 08:26 PM) Super Backup can perform backups of sms and contacts, but sync would be a minor pain although you could do it with MyPhoneExplorer for device sync to PC and a NAS or owncloud. I tried owncloud v1 but I think the latest version has contact backup. |

Comparison of Lumia 1520 vs Note3.
http://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note_...iew-1027p10.php Note3 wins but close fight. Now all Samsung needs is a knockout camera and they'll still keep top title, but I'm intrigued by.the software "active" stylus of the Tegra 4. If they had a good phablet w 2gb.RAM and fhd screen I'd try that. |

QUOTE(azlan79 @ Dec 31 2013, 10:37 AM) Hi, anyone here use SGN3 Public version SM-N9006? http://m.samsung.com/cn/consumer/mobile-ph.../SM-N9006ZWACHN This seems to be a Chinese telco variant with no LTE. I wouldn't advise getting one. What's the real spec for this variant, can use in Malaysia? Thank you.. |

QUOTE(gemenilim @ Dec 31 2013, 03:32 PM) IMHO it is. I have 4 widgets showing me battery consumption and cpu utilization with temperatures. Can also set governor and max cpu freq with a custom kernel. Comes with a file explorer as well. I'm.using the 2 components before it became Android Tuner Pro though. |

QUOTE(G K Lai @ Jan 8 2014, 10:59 AM) Hi all, Tasker or LlamaThis may be the stupid question, but I just can't find any setting in the phone. How do I temporary disable all notifications or the notification sound (like Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, WeChat etc...) while I go to bed? I can then enable it when wake up. Currently utilizing Blocking mode, but un-tick Block incoming calls (don't want to miss any emergency call). Is there are better and faster way? Reason to do this: the phone keeps beeping while I am about the sleep is very annoying. Thank you in advance. |
