Sorry to hear about your troubles, tough luck.

You bought it from Singapore, any one to one has to happen over there. Why isn't Qisahn replacing the console for you? Sony Malaysia is obligated to fix the issue for you,but not immediately. Nothing like that in the regional warranty. So 7 days isn't insane.

I believe the SEA region warranty is true and one to one can be happen here.
http://ap.ign.com/en/news/10388/sony-intro...south-east-asia
http://asia.playstation.com/sg/en/regional_warranty

But I guess they are not aware of this.
*
From what I read, they'll replace with a refurbished set with the exact same materials, etc.

But I'd actually follow up with the place you bought it and ask them to send a replacement, the item is new and you pre-ordered it. Sony would only be a 2nd choice since they would most probably only go through the RMA process with your issue. Keep us updated with the progress! Interested to see how Sony (M) and Qisahn handles it.

I've sent email to both Qisahn and Sony Malaysia, as well as PS Asia. I doubt SONY Malaysia is aware of the issue, and as per what the service centre told me, I'm the first they've encountered and it means they seriously had no idea on this. But what anger me is aren't they supposed to be updated on this issue that hit worldwide. I believe our game community or industry in Malaysia is not strong, which mean they do not take our word seriously.

This is what the person from US Region told me:
[attachmentid=3780449]

So yeah. Let's see how they will deal with it.

But I'm just curious, is there ANYONE ELSE encounter the same Blue Light Of Death Issue in Malaysia/Singapore? Or just me?  sad.gif  sad.gif

In this case, Sony US isn't the global headquarters. So I wouldn't take their word for law. How each region handles this warranty bit is going to be interesting though. Each region has always had their own way of doing things, and now there's this regional warranty bit that can be interpreted in a number of ways, thanks to the terms and conditions being pretty vague. Sony could turn away people for not buying their items from the proper stores even.

Anyway, we'll have to see what they say. Hopefully they get back to you soon.

This really sucks though, retailers/sellers need to be responsible and have to replace the units on a one to one exchange the first week or so. This is not rocket science and they wouldn't get away with this in the US. I'm tired of hearing about retailers/sellers that are not replacing the units and just saying they'll RMA as per usual. One to one replacement should be the way it goes. I say make a huge fuss about all this, write to the newspapers, and not let anyone get away with this madness. You don't buy something new and have to wait 2-4 months to get it back to use it just because it was DOA.

Depending on the responses you get from Sony (M), Qisahn, it might be time for some necessary feedback to be written for them.

Any updates?

I downloaded AC4, BF4, Knack and Killzone completely over night. So check to see if you're using the TM dns sa default so you get high speeds from PSN.

It appears that our best game shops are showing their true colours with the PS4 saga. Best to avoid all those shops later even if it's just to purchase a game, because when things don't go right, we know their responses.

Stick with the shops that take care of you instead.

SONY Technician finally called me and confirmed with me that I will be getting a new replacement for my console.

BUT, it will take 7 - 14 working days.

So me, as a consumer who is impatient with his new toy and has been waited for so long, of coz not satisfy with the answer.

I called up to the CSC (Customer Service Centre), told them about this and asked them whether I am getting the first batch console, or 2nd batch console. Because it is not making sense at all if I am getting a first batch console after the 2nd batch is released.

If I am getting the 2nd batch then it still make sense, however if it's the first batch console, why don't you just get it from KLCC, since there are stocks available.
*
Finally confirmed a new unit. Should be as soon as they have stock, regardless of batch. Why would KLCC have stock btw? Last I heard, they're all out anyway.

But there are still people purchasing from KLCC.

Well I gave them choice and reason which:
1. If it's the first batch stock, then I should be able to get it FAST, since there are stocks over at KLCC.
2. If it's the 2nd batch stock, then I accept the fact that I have to wait until the 2nd batch launch (which will be just in probably another week?)

So the person will double confirm with me again.
*
Yeah, supposed stock coming in for January then the next batch is March.

not surprise if PS4 will have other problems since its temperature is higher than XBone.

Probably anybody who purchase PS4 will play it in an air-conditioned room
*
No air conditioning here. Just on the tv cabinet, lots of ventilation. So far so good.

QUOTE(inyourheart @ Jan 3 2014, 06:40 PM)
SO,
After I've spoken with someone from SONY Service Centre:
1) Console is to reach on tomorrow from HK, and most likely to reach to the curve on Monday. They will call me back again after they have the ship schedule.

2) I was the first to sent to their service (that's what they said) which then makes me on the first of the list to receive.

3) Regarding on the on the spot exchange:
I've been told that as far as she knows, there isn't anyone got on the spot exchange, because stocks are very limited.

4) SONY Malaysia purchase vs. Retailers.
- SEA Regional warranty goes towards all as long as it is SEA warranty.
- It is a first come first serve process to repair / replace.
- However, back to the point 3, if there are people who bought the console from SONY Malaysia during launch, and found broken and send back to the SONY Malaysia (for example the curve), they MIGHT have a chance to get 1to1 replacement on the spot PROVIDED there are stocks left. If not, things will still go back to the normal process - First come first serve regardless on SEA or SONY Malaysia.

5) +2years extended warranty.
The practice was only for those who purchased from SONY Malaysia will be entitled. HOWEVER, this was for their other gadgets, and since SEA warranty is new, they will check again and double confirm with me.
*
The Curve has received their 2nd batch of PS4 units already and one person (from the PS4 community thread) has said that he received an immediate replacement after he brought back a defective unit to Sony Curve and they tested it. I doubt that they'll operate without bringing in additional units for replacements. A really d*** move on their part. If they did, then they're absolutely dumb asses.

For point 5, the playstation line isn't aware of the extended 2 year warranty as it isn't applied over there or in SG. So I think it's a MY only thing.

May I know is the person who received the immediate replacement bought it from Sony The Curve Store or retailers?

From what the Sony CSC told me, majority of the console that will be ship on tomorrow is for those will to be replace.
*
Don't remember, might have to go through the last two threads.

sound like it's advisable to get the set from Sony rather than retailer (even the authorised dealer)

btw someone here mention that the curve restock 2nd bath PS4 already, is that true? I feel like going over tmr n grab one now @.@
*
Was there today, they say the sets are only for the people on their waiting list. Have to write your name for your turn. Over 100 on the list, they only have 30+ or so units this batch.

It's stuck in custom, waiting for clearance. She said by end of this week, but I say not tomorrow, not thursday, and probably Friday. Why?

Tuesday (today) - stuck
Wednesday - Document process.
Thursday - Send to The Curve. Count stock. Call up. Close door.
Friday - Please come.
*
That's already 18 days for you without being able to play. They really should hurry up with this nonsense. So these units are for the third batch I presume? Since they didn't give you the ones they had for the 2nd batch due to not having any extra?

I don't even know what batch is this. Now let's see if there's more drama when receiving like:
1. Oh shit got your console wrong, yours is camera bundle but we don't have camera for you.
2. Oh shit this is first batch actually, coz your console is 1st batch.
3. Oh shit we are sorry we missed out your order, please wait another 7-14 working days.
4. Oh shit did you just got another BLOD? We are sorry but please wait again.
*
The ones from Sony Store@Curve, the 20th they had the 1st batch. The 2nd batch was recently last week, when they started calling up the people on the waiting list, etc. The 3rd I presume is the ones arriving in the next few days as they still have 100+ on their waiting list and I'm guessing quite a number with defective consoles. By right, they should have had at least 10-15 consoles ready for exchange but they're a bunch of morons who have no idea how to run a business. They probably only had 1-2 units spare for that purpose and panicked when they found more being returned to their Service Centre. Of course, due to that fact they have excuses

1) Limited stock
2) Sony only gave us this much
3) You're the only one that reported this issue
4) Because it's purchased from SG you'll have to wait 7-14 days (while we try to bring in more)

and whatever else.

Let's hope you get it this week. I'd be pretty pissed if this happened to me.

If they really do give the excuse you mentioned I guess I will reply in this way to them:

1) Limited stock Are you dumb or fail in maths? Can't you see the amount that you needed to restock?
2) Sony only gave us this much Are you dumb not to report this to SONY or are you keeping to for ur own sale to hit your own KPI and sales target? If yes then I will fail you by complain about your treatment towards customer using social media. Dare me.
3) You're the only one that reported this issue Do you think I'm stupid?
4) Because it's purchased from SG you'll have to wait 7-14 days (while we try to bring in more) Why don't you tell me to go Singapore and get my console? What's next, because I didn't buy it from you personally? F U it's SEA regional warranty - first come first serve.
*
Actually, you'd be surprised to know that I received comments 1) and 2) when I asked them about replacement and 1 to 1 exchange when I pre-ordered. They actually said that they have limited stock for Malaysia and SONY wasn't giving them more. Surprising that they wouldn't have enough for ASIA. We're not talking millions here. 1000 units would have been enough for the launch.
