From the same guys who brought Silent Storm comes a tactical rpg based on a hit Russian TV series, that is going to be a movie.

The demo is out on Fileplanet.

Demo impressions:

Pros (based on demo):
Looks like an interesting storyline - voice acting not bad too...
Interesting setting (magic in modern times, with vampires and werewolves to boot!)
Interesting game mechanics - player can choose from 3 classes. The shapeshifter, who can... shapeshift. The sorceror who can make ordinary everyday items into magic items. Finally the mage who's the pure magic user of the group.
Uses the Silent Storm engine for physics.

Cons (based on demo):
Graphics are...definitely not cutting edge
Runs a bit sluggish on my comp, which should be able to handle games like this well.
Character animations leave alot to be desired.

Granted it's only a demo, so they may clean it up alot before release. And the interesting premise and storyline puts this on my watch list. Try it out for yourself!

This is actually the THIRD updated demo for this... I think the original demo came out a few months ago and got a trashing.

Anyway, I decided to give it a try since I was a die-hard Silent Storm fan.

If you've played Silent Storm before, you'll feel right at home as the game plays roughly the same (The interface isn't as complicated though)

One thing to remember though: Unlike Silent Storm which used the physics engine to alter bullet trajectories, penetration and damage, the physics focus in this one is different alltogether (Considering you don't use conventional weapons). An interesting feature of this game is the ability to "toss" ppl around and when these ppl fly (With ragdoll physics in full swing wub.gif ) they take damage depending on the distance, height and objects the fly in... This feature isn't fully expressed in the demo (And kinda hard to use because ragdoll physics are pretty unpredictable) but it does show promise.

The demo is a bit longwinded (And whoever wrote the dialogue for the English version should be shot) but it does introduce most of the gameplay elements quite well. The Gloom (Its kinda weird as its called the Gloom in the dialogue, but the Twilight in all the text... Different translating teams?) seems rather unforgiving (Drains your EP way too fast) and the tactical difference isn't shown well in the demo since EVERY enemy you meet either sticks in the Gloom or real world ONLY (If you're in the Gloom you can't attack ppl outside and vice versa)

I'm a little dissapointed in the lack of classes after Silent Storm. Currently its the Shapeshifter (Warrior/CQB dude), Mage (Long range spellcaster/sniper), Sorcerer (Engineer/ Crafter). Not much choice in terms of specialization.

I will be keeping an eye of this since there's not much coming out in the turn-based strategy department sad.gif

Heh, I don't know, but the introduction of the Panzerklines was what killed S2 for me... Or was it this insane mission that required me to kill EVERYONE (Including 5 panzers) in 30-50 turns or so... whistling.gif
