I know I need transformer to use it in Malaysia, but which one I need?
Step DOWN or Step UP?
240v->110v is consider DOWN?

the picture say output DC = 120W
So I must get a good transformer?

Finally, where can buy it online? (lazy go out)

Must be step-down because ours is 240 volts.

thanks for the confirmation

Needless to say, it has to be a step down transformer because our country is using 240VAC standard (UK mains voltage) while that power adapter requires 100VAC (Japan mains voltage). I assume the power adapter comes/originates from Japan? wink.gif

Get a transformer with a rating of at least 120VA or higher (preferable). flex.gif

You can try online stores such as RS Components, Farnell/Newark/element14 and Mouser. Prepare to be shocked by their prices. You can get one way cheaper in places like Pasar Road (which means have to go out)... brows.gif

wow, thanks for the detailed reply.
The adapter was meant to used in USA. (but it seems like it is rated for Microsoft Japan, and made in China pulak)
Go to jalan pasar maybe need 2 hours lol (me around banting), somemore I not familiar with KL road.

I am thinking, supermarket like Jusco got sell transformer?
what about Harvey Norman, Courts, etc got sell?

I briefly check thru several websites you gave
it seems like they are selling components instead of a functioning transformer that I can plug and play.

Mains voltage for Japan is very similar to USA, around 10V to 15V difference only (as USA uses 110VAC to 115VAC). Thus useable with USA mains power. Nowadays many electronic stuff are made in China. wink.gif

You can see how the prices as like from online stores in the next paragraph. Then you can decide if its worth the trip or not. Anyway, this transformer is quite heavy (since I have one also, and quite big one), thus even postage or courier fees would be rather high.  sweat.gif

You have to check that out for yourself. More likely to find it at electrical/electronic hardware shops. hmm.gif

Actually they do sell, just you did not check carefully/properly. Examples here: element14 Malaysia: 172F - HAMMOND - ISOLATION STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER, RS Malaysia: Transformer, safety isolating,portable,650VA,110V,CMH1200/110 and Mouser: 172B Hammond Manufacturing... tongue.gif

Just make sure the wattage is correct (either equal to, or higher than 120W). icon_rolleyes.gif

Holy cow, RM300-1000... you better kill me
My budget RM100 only, given that I already spend 430 USD on that item + 60 USD to ship it to malaysia

too bad those small transformer cannot support up to 120W
like this 1: http://www.lelong.com.my/pts12-100-watts-2...4-07-Sale-P.htm
But I wonder will this small transformer work as well? (rated for 80W only)
because my item is just a webcam (Kinect 2.0 for Windows)

I must follow exactly the output DC: 120W on the sticker?

Mine not so small, and is rated for 500W (thus can imagine the weight also). If you want much bigger transformer then must manually search for it (in places like Pasar Road)... wink.gif

Should follow the wattage on your power adapter (or higher wattage), otherwise may encounter low/insufficient power issues... icon_rolleyes.gif

Looks like its rated for 300W, thus should be very sufficient for your device. You can also read the comment in the specifications concerning transformer longevity (which is why I've mentioned higher wattage as well). Also there's a caution mentioned there concerning devices with high current draw (ie. this part "Do not use it for hair dryer, rice cooker, electric iron, or any electrical devices that produces heat"). icon_rolleyes.gif

Ya I am concern about the "heat" part.
Because almost every electronic devices produce heat... even smartphones.
My device (Kinect 2.0, basically a webcam) produces some heat too, it even have a mini fan to cool it down.

But I think he only meant "strong heat".
Hopefully won't spoil my precious...

Why not go taobao, look for the kinect power adapter that is meant for china market, and get a china to uk pkug adapter. The adapter can get for rm2 or there abouts

last time I was rushing to check if my Kinect V2 for Windows was working, so I just buy the most convenient 1.
not really familiar with taobao.
