Isnt it only fat people will overweight? No. Overweight has became a very serious problem among the people. we as human being just can contorl our mouth from eating tasty foods. as long as it is tasty, our stomach will be 'enlarged' automatically and we will dump in all the foods into our mouth. then result some 'spare tyre' around our waist and our weight shoot up very much.
There is a standard to be used to test whether we are overweight or not, namely Body Mass Index (BMI). it is a very easy procedure.
BMI = body weight (kg) / square root [body height (m)]
For example, my weight is 70kg, and my height is 1.8m (180cm)*. square root 1.8m will give me 3.24. by dividing 70kg with 3.24, i got my BMI equal to 21.6. *1m = 100cm.
Here is a table to see what the BMI representing... Category BMI Too light less than 18.5 Ideal 18.5-22.9 Overweight 23.0-24.9 Obese (level 1) 25.0-29.9 Obese (level 2) 30.0-34.9 Obese (level 3) 35.0 and above
if dont have calculator with you, never mind, you can use the calculator at start>run>calc
Obesity can caused a lot of diseases to us. diabetes, cancers, heart attack and many many more.
recently, there are many medical ways to resolve obesity. among them are inject insulin into our body. but this might bring us side effects. the best way to loss weight is by exercises.
Can you share the info on calculating the colestrol and fats for foods? what are the foods to be eaten in oder to loss weight? and what are the best exercises to loss weight? thanks..

does the bmi formula take into consideration that people's weight may vary due to lifestyle and activities? body builders, athletes, heck even people who have higher density bones are likely to weigh more than the optimal weight according to their bmi.
the bmi formula as such should only be used for those who are less physically active and/or have a higher than normal body fat %. by definition of obesity, one cannot be obese if you're an athlete or bodybuilder with a low body fat %.
also you can be fat and be at your optimum weight according to your bmi, low muscle mass, low bone density high body fat.
just thought i'd point that out.

The BMI is inherently flawed. It should be scraped. Mine's around 32. I know i'm not obese. There are much better and accurate methods for calculating bodyfat.

There are much better and accurate methods for calculating bodyfat. BMI is quite useful actually... it at least refect the whole population quite right.. (the dumbell distribution thingy), simple, easy to be done... every measurement got its limitation so just dont simply say it shud be scraped.. u are body builder and u know BMI doesnt reflect accurately to body builder... there are other accurate measurement, but basic BMI is just simple and representative (within its limitation)..

ya know what, i will just simply go and say scrap it.
SCRAP IT.
there i said it.
how is it in anyway usefull if it is unable to compensate for other weight factors? it doesnt look at body fat % or muscle mass, it only looks at height and weight, that isnt accurate thats just tossing numbers together.
many fat people are FAT but yet manage to be in their optimal bmi, while many physically fit and healthy people are considered overweight? how is that supposed to be effective and accurate in anyway?
i've been fat before, i was within my optimal bmi, if i had listened to people telling me "oh you're fine, still within optimum weight according to you bmi" i would probably have gotten fatter to an extreme point and be on my way to sumo school by now.
scrap it.
