i have an old camera Nikon F55 which uses film.
1. can i use its lens on a digital camera?
2. if yes, must it be a nikon or can it go on any other brand?
3. whats the cheapest camera that will be able to use that lens?
thanks

Yes and no.

Yes if u buy an extra adapter that will fit it on.

No because you will lose all auto focus, auto aperture etc.

Generally not the best option.

Nikon df is the NEW king of low light, exceeding D4 score !

You might want to consider not getting the Nikon 1 series because it has a 2.7X crop factor, which might be overkill magnification to get used to when using your old lenses.

Try looking for Nikon D90. Might also be easy to find the D90 second hand for a good price for less than RM1.5K. I hear the Nikon D90 can work the Auto Focus on old nikon lenses.

Bring your lenses along to try out the D90. I read that some lenses need to do some tricks like lock the max aperture f22 before the camera can access the automatic controls. A lot of maybes so just bring your lenses to test out the camera.
