QUOTE(markblurberry @ Dec 20 2013, 12:10 PM) Against Cardiff, I really hope to see new faces in the 1st eleven, players such as Albertto & Aspas...no disrespect to Cardiff, but this is the type of match where you'll want to see some rotation to freshen the squad with impending matches against Chelski and Sitty. Would be great too if we can sub Suarez, whatnot after what happened to Aguero and RVP.....in this case just my negative tot. Having said this, the match against Cardiff is anything but easy, with Frazier Campbell, Medel and ex-reds Bellamy, they can cause us problems, and in defense they have some pretty decent players in Caulkner and Whittingham...I wuld say bring them on, and lets have a game of decent soccer... I think BR needs to start with the strongest available squad. Get some early goals and rest a few of them in the second half, especially Suarez. |

If Arsenal fail to win tonight, the top 5 would only be separated by 2 points. Never seen such a thing before by Christmas.
Oh yeah, the game against Cardiff, we wouldn't have accepted anything less than a win anyway. The real tests are the next 2 very tough away games. I'd be content with 2 points from these 2 games. Anything more is a bonus |

QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Dec 23 2013, 11:25 AM) The title isnt even on my mind. We'll see where the team stands after these next 2 games. After that, the matches against the big 5 or 6 is pretty much spread out for the remainder of the season. Not facing them in consecutive matches, subject to change of course. Main target is for that Champions League spot. Europa League will be a consolation prize. And the League of course would be a miracle bonus. Target is definitely top 4. Even BR himself acknowledges that it's unprecedented for a team that finished 7th the previous season to win it in the current season. |

QUOTE(led_zep_freak @ Dec 27 2013, 09:27 AM) Anyway trolls aside, really gutted we didn't leave Etihad with something. Although City had the lion share of the possession and was clearly the better team, we created the better chances. We certainly did enough to win the game if not for the linesman decision or the 2 missed sitters. - Those sitters should have been converted. The team's clear-cut chances were not that many tbh. Those type of chances needed to go in.My MOTM for Liv was Skrtel. Sure, I nearly sh!t my pants whenever he defends a dead ball situation. Last night, it seems that his task was to tug Kompany's shirt, he doesn't even try to attack the ball! That aside, he made a number of last ditch tackles, some that would have made Carragher proud. Sterling too I thought was unfazed by the occasion last night. City found it difficult to deal with his pace, runs and body strength. Should have scored that sitter tbh. Personally, I'm happy with the team performance last night. We transformed from a team that has forgotten how to score to one that believes it could beat anybody, in the space of 1 1/2 years. To me, that's progression. That's not to say BR is perfect, as there're plenty of questions you could ask. For one, the bench leaves a lot to be desired and secondly, how much of this team performance and belief have to do with Suarez's superhuman form? I reckon it will be a tough task for him to replace Suarez. But one thing at a time, gonna enjoy it while we're still on the ascendancy. Bring on Chelsea! - Lol. Yeah, Everytime there was a corner I held my breath that Skrtel wouldn't do anything stupid. Well, he continued his habit of tugging his man's shirt instead of attacking the ball. But at the same time, some of his blocks were fantastic. Hopefully he can improve on defending set plays. - My main concern currently is that the squad is not deep enough especially when there's at least 2 key players injured. Just imagine Coutinho and Suarez out now. We'd be dead. Aspas and Moses hasn't shown anything yet to convince me that they are good enough. - Another concern is the concentration of the backline. Cissokho was caught on occasions not tracking his man on the flank early on in the game. Even Sakho, who defends brilliantly at times, was really sloppy during one portion of the match last night. Johnson was clumsy too, giving the ball away far too cheaply on a few occasions. BR needs to sort this out. The team simply can't afford these kind of mistakes, especially when the league table is as it is this season. One day you're on top, the next day you're 4th. p.s To the other clubs' football fans, if you have nothing else to say other than to troll, please do yourselves a favour and not say anything. |

Give the defenders some credit. Clean sheet
Solid enough performance overall considering the injuries to the squad, the consecutive losses to City and Chelsea and the hectic Christmas schedule (4 games in 11 days). |

Everybody's raging on Cissokho this morning. Haven't seen Aspas' name mentioned in the last 3 pages.

All the hoopla about our defence being leaky but LFC is actually tied 4th for best defence in the league.

QUOTE(vreis @ Jan 2 2014, 06:02 PM) He needs to learn how to be composed in front of goal like Suarez. He has the skills and the movement to get himself into goal-scoring positions. He's been wasteful lately. Last night he could have had 2 goals. And that chance that he had against City is still in my mind |

That chance he had - miles over the bar Liv vs Oldham highlights, didnt show much in first half chances.. i saw some other highlights that have more opportunity |

Ah well, don't bother too much about them. As long as LFC keep winning enough games to challenge for top four, I'm satisfied. BR and the team just have to keep winning as many games as possible, the rest will take care of itself.

You guys are still debating about Allen? Really?
Conclusion : Useful squad player at the moment. End of story. He might work well with Hendo and Lucas in midfield but the jury's still out there as BR hasn't tried that combination on a regular basis. This post has been edited by 8sg9ft: Jan 10 2014, 11:22 AM |
