I think BR needs to start with the strongest available squad. Get some early goals and rest a few of them in the second half, especially Suarez.

If Arsenal fail to win tonight, the top 5 would only be separated by 2 points. Never seen such a thing before by Christmas.

Oh yeah, the game against Cardiff, we wouldn't have accepted anything less than a win anyway. The real tests are the next 2 very tough away games. I'd be content with 2 points from these 2 games. Anything more is a bonus

We'll see where the team stands after these next 2 games. After that, the matches against the big 5 or 6 is pretty much spread out for the remainder of the season. Not facing them in consecutive matches, subject to change of course.

Target is definitely top 4. Even BR himself acknowledges that it's unprecedented for a team that finished 7th the previous season to win it in the current season.

- Those sitters should have been converted. The team's clear-cut chances were not that many tbh. Those type of chances needed to go in.

- Lol. Yeah, Everytime there was a corner I held my breath that Skrtel wouldn't do anything stupid. Well, he continued his habit of tugging his man's shirt instead of attacking the ball. But at the same time, some of his blocks were fantastic. Hopefully he can improve on defending set plays.

- My main concern currently is that the squad is not deep enough especially when there's at least 2 key players injured. Just imagine Coutinho and Suarez out now. We'd be dead. Aspas and Moses hasn't shown anything yet to convince me that they are good enough.

- Another concern is the concentration of the backline. Cissokho was caught on occasions not tracking his man on the flank early on in the game. Even Sakho, who defends brilliantly at times, was really sloppy during one portion of the match last night. Johnson was clumsy too, giving the ball away far too cheaply on a few occasions. BR needs to sort this out. The team simply can't afford these kind of mistakes, especially when the league table is as it is this season. One day you're on top, the next day you're 4th.

Solid enough performance overall considering the injuries to the squad, the consecutive losses to City and Chelsea and the hectic Christmas schedule (4 games in 11 days).

Everybody's raging on Cissokho this morning. Haven't seen Aspas' name mentioned in the last 3 pages.

Any news on when Enrique and Sturridge will be back?

All the hoopla about our defence being leaky but LFC is actually tied 4th for best defence in the league. But in all honesty, there's room for improvements on defence. In general, they defend well but just when you think everything's all well, a defensive mistake or a goalkeeping error out of nowhere appear. Signs of lack of concentration.

He needs to learn how to be composed in front of goal like Suarez. He has the skills and the movement to get himself into goal-scoring positions. He's been wasteful lately. Last night he could have had 2 goals. And that chance that he had against City is still in my mind

Ah well, don't bother too much about them. As long as LFC keep winning enough games to challenge for top four, I'm satisfied. BR and the team just have to keep winning as many games as possible, the rest will take care of itself.

Conclusion : Useful squad player at the moment. End of story. He might work well with Hendo and Lucas in midfield but the jury's still out there as BR hasn't tried that combination on a regular basis.
