QUOTE(Mikeshashimi @ Dec 30 2013, 12:50 AM)
another city game at hand.... so sick of all the stupid passes and rubbish defending...

and just like that we're only 2 points above 'you-know-who'
*
I can see our players are trying hard. But Chelsea seems more fresh

QUOTE(jialitrading @ Dec 30 2013, 12:51 AM)

Lost the match, but i just love how liverpool play now.
Chelsea and Citeh play shitty football when playing with us.
*
Citeh maybe, but Chelsea not that shitty just now

About the game, agains Sterling is our best player. Really2 hope he came out injury free coz his contribution gonna be crucial the second half of the season.

QUOTE(hfi @ Dec 30 2013, 11:50 AM)
In hindsight, we probably should have thrown away one of the two games we played last week. I know this won't go down easily with most people as the idea of throwing a game is inconceivable. BR was brave to go full throttle against City and Chelsea but i wonder if we would benefit from fielding a slightly weaker side against City (who was always favorite to win at their homeground) and then play our best 11 against Chelsea.
*
Well, for thought after event, I also think that would be a better approach. May be back to back win prior to these two games had made us a lil bit overconfident. Maybe we should have park the bus against ManCity. But again we were never good defensively.

QUOTE(carloz28 @ Dec 30 2013, 12:30 PM)
Funnily, I thought of the same thing. But we are Liverpool, we never throw games away. biggrin.gif

Like you said, perhaps a tactical rotation would yield a different outcome, but BR already said he's down to 17 fit players only. I surmise that BR was playing a gamble here by putting out his best against City, hoping to nick at least a point there so that he will have less pressure to deliver against Chelsea.

Which brings us to the question of our squad depth. Cherroy, Rotuham and a few other members have stressed that investment of quality players is needed badly come January if we wish to realize our Champions League dream. Often times, their points are being brushed aside and ridiculed, with some claims saying that they want to emulate City and Chelsea, forcing our beloved FSG to spend big in the market which is very unintelligent of these critics.

For the first time in 4 years, I have a sense of optimism where we ACTUALLY have a real chance of getting back into Champions League this season, and we want to stay in the hunt until the end of the season. We got a good run in the team, with Sturridge and Suarez hitting top form and Henderson coming out from his shell in the absence of Gerrard so it's absolutely imperative to keep the momentum going, especially when facing tougher opponents like Chelsea and City.
Furthermore, other top teams have dropped more points against lesser opposition, something that rarely happened in the past, so I think we have to seize this opportunity and keep sailing with the wind.

All of us were frustrated when we dropped points against Hull and Soto because I feel that these are the games you need to win to stay in the game. And then you have people saying " Why complain when we are still at second place?" " NO worries, Arsenal and Chelsea also dropped points mahhhhh" etc etc. Our position before Christmas was in fact partially contributed by the failure of our rivals to capitalize on their opponents.

Now that our momentum have been stonewalled by this 2 defeats, we need to find our feet back as soon as possible. No question about it, we need QUALITY reinforcements in January; or else ALL our players' brilliant effort in the first half of the season MAY end up with nothing. Remember, name of the game is KEEP UP and not CATCH UP.

hey this is good and fair analysis ^ thumbup.gif

Now we only need Chris to update us on the January deal icon_idea.gif rclxms.gif

QUOTE(hfi @ Dec 30 2013, 12:53 PM)
If you follow the reserve football, you would know that Smith has tons of pace. He has played fullback and winger for both the youth and reserve teams. Aspas and Alberto do not have pace and they are not wide players. I won't deny that Smith did poorly, but obviously BR didn't know how he would turn up until he made the call.

Anyone can tell me why we did not sub in Cissokho thought he was okay against City

QUOTE(skeleton202 @ Jan 1 2014, 10:19 AM)
Pintu perpindahan telah dibuka dengan rasminya. Kopwatch mengkhabarkan bahawa perpindahan pemain Muhamed Salah kurang lancar. Ayre tidak menemui kesepakatan bersama agen Salah. Agen mahukan £10m dan 5 tahun kontrak, namun Ayre tawarkan £7m dan 4 tahun kontrak.

Pemain ingin berpindah dan Rodgers perlukan pemain. Jadi perbincangan masih berlaku dan perpindahan dijangka selesai esok.
there goes liverpool typical transfer

Oh no, Salah just take the deal! U know playing in Swiss league cannnot compare to BPL. Once proven in BPL u can put any price tag on urself

Coutinho cannot finish.. yup nothing new. Last 5 min Hendo suddenly played more advance... maybe he got fed up with lack of pressing/urgency from our front player. And also becoz he can't put better killer pass
