notebookcheck is 1 of my favourite laptop review site. thumbup.gif

Seems like Z510 is a not so easy to maintain. Just to add RAM or add SSD, you need to remove the whole back cover. sweat.gif

According to the review, yes, Z510 does not have gigabit lan, just fast ethernet port. AFAIK, Malaysia set is the same, no gigabit lan too.

I think u can try to ask garage sales seller. They might know. This model don't have dedicated thread in mobile computing. doh.gif

I think may be around 20 to 30 second. HDD 5400rpm what do you expect but with Win 8, i think it should be smooth and 1 more think remove that free mcafee should make boot up faster. This anti virus really annoying compare to other anti virus like Avira. For those who like to OC, Z510 easily can be OC using Intel XTU software to 3.4Ghz.

Is it the normal HDD or SSHD (with ssd cache 8gb)? I saw from notebookcheck it's sshd, but in techhypermart it's just Sata HDD. hmm.gif

my opinion, design not really ergonomic for gamer. coz mic n 1 usb port at lower part of right side. if u using mouse, u will feel annoying ur hand struck at that part (if u using headset + all usb port is used)

i not own z510, but s510p with almost same design

Just bought this laptop. Z510 i7 version.

i7-4702MQ, 4gb ram, GT740m, 1TB hdd with freebies a bag and a ciplak wireless mouse for RM2650.

The shop owner say don't register online first. He ask me to register after 1 week as the 1st week warranty is done by the shop. He said if register dy he can't claim.

I asked him is it the authorized reseller (that shop) will register warranty for us. He say don't need to register. Coz got serial number dy. He say I can try to register online.

But when I check the Lenovo support site. My warranty started on October 2013. When I check the box, it states that the MFD is on 24th October 2013. In Lenovo's site, the warranty started on 25th October 2013.

Attached Image

Is this normal? Or am I being sold a display set? I saw him open from a new box though. Before going my dad called the shop. The shop owner say they restock dy. But I scared he change the display set and this new set then reseal the box. hmm.gif

if can, try ask lenovo support is it true that for first week the warranty need to be register by reseller?
cos how lenovo know we buy the notebook on when...
so who register also same unless lenovo like to do extra work or the reseller got something to hide...
who know the unit is refurbished or return from rma...

I'm afraid of this too. Scared that it is refurbished set. Duno y the warranty start so early.

I've checked everythin. It seems new though. Skmm sticker at bottom, 'my' in the seriel code on the box.

The lenovo representitive said later they will email me asking for the official receipt and some steps. After that they will update the warranty in a few days. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Aiya, forgot to ask the lenovo representitive izit true that need to wait 7 days before warranty register. doh.gif

I think its not refurbished set. The box showed manufacturing date 24/10/2013. Then the warranty starts on 25/10/2013. Maybe their system is like that. Then after buying it, when user register warranty then only lenovo update the waranty. hmm.gif

I've never used Z500 before. But if u wanna compare them both.

I'm pretty sure with the new Haswell processor, Z510 standby time is a bit longer than Z500.

Coming from the first gen of Dell Inspiron 15R, the Z510 is a superb upgrade for me. Good speaker, nice screen, backlit keyboard. thumbup.gif

local set is using the 1TB hdd, not sshd.

local set is only hd (1366 * 768), not fhd (1920 * 1080).

mine is the i7-4702MQ @ 2.2 ghz. maximum boost up to 3.2 ghz.
