Thanks for the comments.
If my budget allow, I think I will fit a copper pipe.
The tank and hob will connect to the copper by short stretch of rubber hose. Feel safer this way.
Still trying to convince wifey to use induction. But TNB naik harga next year........
Yes you are right, its definitely safer that way.
Also I wouldn't be surprised if there is something in the Malaysian building codes that specify the long supply line must be ridged (there certainly is in other counties I have lived). Of course the last few feet connection at each end can be flexible, but these ends are easy to inspect for wear/deterioration and replace as needed.
Induction is OK for some things, ie boiling soup, pan frying etc But not really fantastic for wok cooking. 1st it doesnt give the same high heat and 2nd you cant as rapidly change the wok heat as you would with gas with the thin old style black steel wok by lo to high and high to low heat. since the Wok used for Induction cooing tends to be thicker and thus heats up and cools down slower giving a lag to any change in heat input at the control.
Also in Malaysia Electric Energy is much much much more expensive than gas Energy. So Gas hob will definitely cheaper utility bills.
from
http://myaga.me/propane/barbequing/how-much-propane "One kilo of propane contains 12.8 kWh of energy. This means a 11-kg propane cylinder will produce over 140 kWh of energy." Last time I bought a cylinder of gas (quite a few years ago since my condo has pipe gas) it was lest than RM20 for a 11kg bottle. I think these days its around RM25, right?
Electricity costs roughly 40 sen/kWh so to get the same energy as from a 11kg bottle of propane would cost 140kWhx0.4sen = RM56 in electricity.
So Electricity cost is about double of Gas (which is subsidised).
