How to form team? Anyway, are you experienced in this game?

I need to know a few things actually lols.

Is there such thing as a "stat" system for Strife? Like KDR, levels, disconnects, leaver percentage.

Can we deny creeps in Strife?

I find that this game is a bit different. We don't have to use mana or HP pots. There's no TP or Portal scroll. HP and Mana get regenerated after few seconds of idle from combats. Items are not shown and can't be activated.

My experience is from Alpha test since i have yet to try the Close Beta yet

There are stats just like every other games out there but whether the stats can be seen or not, i can't answer now

You can portal back without using item and yes HP/MP regen outside combat. You can also buy HP/MP pots to regen faster

If i remember correct you need to press tab i think to show your items but those activateable items are shown even needing to click tab

This is the 2nd generation of MOBA and it aims to reinvent the wheel, there are a lot more features such as how gold/exp are being distributed that makes it different from others. Try experimenting with them yourself

Also, your beta key will allow you to invite 4 more friends in the future soon, so start training with them because something big is brewing

Just make sure you buy correct boots cause each boots has different purpose and it really helps a lot

Is crafting items important in this game? I really have no idea whats crafting cause all these while, in HoN or Dota 2, no need craft items lol

These next gen casual noob friendly moba kind of rustles my jimmies. But i oso interesteded to check it out. S2 did great on HoN as a game but they got bad rep as they first grow resulting it to have fewer players than D2 and lol (i think?). HoN also have seemingly less appealing artwork compared to the 2, being full of old bearded men and humanoid animals instead of boobs and cute characters. While unimportant to gameplay i think these 2 factors are the reason why they arent as popular as the competitors despite being arguably better or at least on par with them in terms of gameplay. They tried to change for better lately and have quite a success on it but still, the damage is too great. The perception is still there.

Strife seems to address all that issue as S2 can start over from a clean slate and i noticed that they understand well what went wrong last time. Strife seems very appealing but im just worried that its noob friendlyness will sacrifice depth and become too different than how hon/d2 is played. Also despite the disclaimer it starts to sound like lol's pay for power system where you get game changing upgrades either by playing more or paying. Either way, i hate games where gameplay can be affected by factors other than skill. A new account should play no differently to old or paid accounts, be it heroes selection pool, runes, pets or whatever. I know they need to make money but D2 gets along just fine by selling just cosmetics. I hope S2 will consider ditching this part.

Long story short, im really curious about how this game will end up and i need a beta key for that. Lulz

Back in the days when Dota 2 closed beta was released, I played it for few days and got bored as well, cause the game mechanics is too slow.

For Strife, yesterday just won beta key. I've been playing so many matches, wanna learn new heroes skills hahaha, the game is different...really different...

hmm heroes seem lackluster.. think imma start with the Sniper/Flint clone. and is it just me or is the hero icons looks tarded? they have great art but y the icons are lidat? cannot brain this..

If u lack the eagerness to learn, just go back to pokemon then, Moba doesnt need people with lack competitiveness in themselves.

Some heroes are hard to play especially BO and Rook. I love Ace and Moxie.

Moxie resembles Thunder Bringer in HoN...lols.

yah tried a couple of games and started to see nothing special with it. stuff i dont like about it:
- range of attacks and spells is too short. even playing as the supposed ranged specialist vermillion doesnt help it
- menu too cluttered with main skills, item abilities and pet abilities
- skill icons too damn big and no animated hero portrait (or a static one, even), which is a shame since i was hoping that s2 would want to capitalize on the cute characters and shiny graphics. they did great with the portrait in the tutorials but why didnt they carry it into the real game?
- hate the pet system. especially since i dunno how it works initially and picked the wrong pet for the free one. now i either have to grind or pay for the pet i really want. and did i mentioned i hate games to be affected by paying or grinding?
- confusing crafting system. as well as being another thing that's affecting the game outside of playing skills that i have to either pay or grind for.
- skills seems to have little damage and little impact despite tons of items that boost skill damage. not so sure about this since i havent tried caster heroes yet.

graphics are nice and shiny and colorful and cartoonish. makes me feel like im in a kiddie playland and reminded me of why i hated lol in the first place. but i hope like lol there will be market for such style and strife's graphics is way better than lol's. i dunno why s2 would want to rip off the bush system from lol. seems too blatant and its not like its that awesome in the first place. krytos system ripped off from blizzard allstars' stone zealot at least seems cool and pretty much ends the game, but still a blatant ripoff. well, what works for you, S2. i hope the game will work and S2 gets their much deserved cash which in turn i hope will be used to maintain HoN. lulz

Just hoping that S2 Games won't abandon HoN. I need HoN for my life lols. Anyway, S2 Games has been producing really good avatars for HoN, and nice balance patch as well. Have been two days since i touch Strife. Need to play back tomorrow hahaha

true. HoN is still the best moba for me. too bad i had to make do with D2 since all my frens are there. had to solo q if i want to play some midwars

For me, HoN was really fun until D2 came out

Hon was dominating the scene earlier because there were no other competitor except for D1 which has old engine/graphics

But HoN started lose its fun when they start introducing too many new heroes because that is where they earn part of their income

D2 was way more balance in a sense that it doens't throw new heroes at you too frequent and gives you time to get used to the current meta

We just have to see how is Strife in the future for now. The current MOBA kings are D2 and LoL in Malaysia. HoN is dropping real fast worldwide except for Thailand

i just cant cope with d2 gamespeed... for me i love HON interface and graphic the most. new heroes is good what, i don't find that were one of the downside. as for LOL, the cartoonish artstyle just not mystyle. i dont know why there's so many people love LOL. in my opinion, HON could consider as the best MOBA for now. strife just another make over of LOL with few add on such pet system. LOL lover should love it.. waiting for heroes of the storm. =)

HoN was dominating earlier because back then, it was Dota2. before icefrog bails that is. i for one actually likes a lot of HoN original heroes as well as their remakes and hybrid of old dota heroes.

yeah undeniably the MOBA kings atm if judged by number of players are LoL and D2. i think HoN is at least in 3rd place but not really sure about that. quite a shame since it's loss is basically in a popularity contest, not quality.

On topic, i think i might play a couple more of Strife but i dont really think its my cup of coffee. although i hope many will like it and give S2 the cash they desperately need lol

I personally feel that HoN has a higher re-playability value as compared to Strife.

I have been playing HoN everyday since Year 2009 close beta...

well since the 2 have quite a different concept with different market so i dont think one will replace the other. im just worried that in the long run strife will financially benefit S2 more and they find no reason to dedicate their resources to keep HoN alive. they did a great job at HoN but in the end if it doesnt bring in money then whats the point? i hope this wont happen but S2 can be a real dick at times.

PS: S2 killed HoN when they introduced EA heroes, introduced the LoL style hero rotation system. HoN is much more competitive than LoL, locking away heroes kills new blood into the competitive scene. They realized it too late, by that time the NA/EU comp scene already spiraled down.

G.arena still does the hero lock if I'm not wrong. Haven't played the game since rift wars introduced. Hero locking just doesn't help the competitive scene grow at all, all it does is let them earn more short term money, since HoN is not as casual friendly as LoL.

i heard S2 laid off a considerably large number of strife development team members. i wonder if strife isnt doin all that well. not big on the game itself but i was hoping the game to be able to carry S2 higher and indirectly help HoN. to current player hows the current situation? how long is the average queue time? anybody active in strife forums/community?

Queue time is highly dependent on the hero you pick. When I take tanks or supports I usually get matched into teams from 10 seconds to a minute. Picking a carry would result in waiting around 5-10 mins per game. Some times I do get streaks in queue times where I can instantly play 3 games back to back, But its dependent on other players having similar skill levels as yo.
