3MAX Anti Roll Bar



So, I have finally managed to squeeze out sometime to do it. May not be able to use it on speedfest since I may not be participating due to many issues popped out lately, but it's all good now with a proper piece of handling improvement equipment at the back of my car. The least I felt good driving it around and whacking corners.

Product quality
This is 1 fine piece of properly designed anti roll bar.

• Mounting point bracket
  
  From the top picture during the installation, you can tell on the right side, bottom of spring seat has an external bracket. This piece was made for easy detach of the anti roll bar, ease of upgrade bar, as well as rubber bushing maintenance. From my visual inspection, the piece was spray painted(probably KingKong brand) cold rolled steel. It's not rustproof(neither do our torsion beam itself). If you want a better finishing and longer lasting piece, please go ahead sand it off, heat treat it, rustproof it, and powder coat it, but I'm guessing that alone will cost you a bomb.

  From what I see, it's just a normal piece of alloy metal knuckle. I don't think 3MAX fabricate it, cause it looks more like needed a dedicated molding machine to make it. 3MAX is generally more on craftmanship. So, as long it doesn't sanp, I'm ok with it and nothing much I can comment about. 1 thing for improvement, why not offer an upgrade option for hardcore tuners, to have a silicone based bushing instead of normal rubber bush.
  
• Mounting/harness
  
  This picture is a normal anti roll bar harness. The 1 that 3MAX offered, please refer to the top picture. Reason I like 3MAX is because the wider contact surface, lesser chance my L-Channel torsion beam get crumpled. Simple as that
  
• Body
  
  You have the choice of 16mm and 19mm quality steel bar. Powder coated in white. I've chosen 16mm as I know I'll be satisfied with my stock suspension system. However, those who having harder springs, you may choose thicker body to transfer more lateral force and twist it away to compress your springs.
  

Let's talk about placebo

• As I left the factory, I felt absolute stable at the back! It's awesome!(I'm still driving straight... bugger how come feel so stable geh?! Placebo!)
  
• Towards the end of the road, I took a 90' hard right turn at about 60kph, it feels like a PORSCHE CARRERA! Extremely stable.(Plotong is Plotong, no matter how u mod, lateral force still kicking in like shit. Placebo!)
  
• As I drive, today seems to have more admire/challenger, coming extremely close. As if they're paying lots of attension on my newly installed ARB(With my 9.1 badge at the back, ofcourse automatically became attention whore, it's been like that since day 1. Placebo!)
  
• Fuiyoh! Usually when I pass by 223, the extremely bad road condition will wreck my balls, but today feels extremely smooth ride(as I slow down for every bumps and holes, scared I scratch my new ARB. So slow, how to crush my balls?! Placebo!)
  
• Feels ARB on, the car moar powderful and better FC yo! (Other than handling, that 5kg will only make FC worsen and 5kg more weight to carry, how to get power?! Placebo!)
  

Actual test drive
Again, as usual after getting out of 3MAX factory, any of my car also will automatically become low standard mat rempit for awhile(it will last for atleast few hundred kilometers). As approach my 1st hard corner, I was preparing to lift 1 side of my buttcheek to accommodate the lateral force. During the corner, I realized I was wrong. As I turn right, I lift my left buttcheek abit, so my right arse can grasp on the seat tightly. The moment I hit the right corner, the choy san ye on my dashboard teleport to the passenger side air bag storage compartment! My whole body shifted away since I only have 1 side of my arse sitting on the seat. Luckily hand brake is at the bottom position, otherwise would have been handbrake stick human barbecue. The lateral force has increased, I felt more tyre traction. Stuff instead of flying around, now they SHIFTING around instead. After that was all busy traffic, drive slowly and paying attention to the new additional, see whether it emit squeeking noise.

Later in the evening, spent RM1.60 x 4, tested whole strip of LDP all the way from Damansara to Puchong, return trip and did it twice. Some highlight as below:
Form Damansara to Puchong trip 1:

• Between Damansara toll to 1 U stretch, speed around 120~140. Doesn't feel much different.
  
• Inside tunnel, my usual comfortable speed was 90kph, so I did the same 90kph again. Body feel much grounded, again butt shifting/teleporting is happening now. Last time will only see things flying, now can see my smartag shifting over instead of rolling over.
  
• From SS2 to Kelana Jaya LRT station. Wasn't expecting much, but when I looked at my meter, already 120kph. So much of placebo effect and confident running in the blood, forgot to keep my speed. Particularly during the fly over before hitting Kelana LRT, it was a blind corner, but my tail was so happy to trail. I almost bang my front right fender as now my steering feels very sharp and pointy.
  
• From Kelana Jaya LRT to Paradigm, dodging and waving traffic like usual.
  
• From Kelana Posofiz to SS3, I was all the way at 2nd left lane, hacking around 160kph. Car was very stable, but my right cheek had to glue on my side window.. At a point I scared my door will open and I kena roll out from the car.
  
• Western Digital was heavy traffic, nothing much to report
  
• LDP furniture there lots of cars slowing down also, was waving traffic, forgot to pay attention to the ARB
  

From Puchong to Damansara return trip 1:

• After Puchong Jaya, supposedly take the right lane going flyover. Don't know what I was thinking, cut through the heavy traffic and took the left exit. May be I'm so used to go to Subang instead of paying toll at LDP. Took the corner infront of YAP'S AUTO CITY @ 90kph only. Not too confident as got car cutting lanes from LDP exit.
  
• LDP furniture on the right, taking the left wide corner at around 120kph, still can't hear tyre screeching yet. But the car doesn't feel too stable this time. I know I can push further, but I'm just not too confident at this point of time.
  
• From tabung haji to Paradigm was a bliss. I have not paying too much attention on my speedo, am just enjoying the view, the angle that I have not seen before as usually when I'm speeding at these corners, everything was slanted.
  
• Nothing much to cover as most of the corners are wider than the opposite direction, until hitting the tunnel. My usual speed was 90kph, but I had stick with 80kph. It's not fast, but I rather enjoy the smoothness for now. Refused to get out from my comfort zone.
  
• From PJ convension center all the way to toll, keeping around 160kph only. Nothing much to report on this, I think some bugger dare to do 180kph without any mod to their car. Been there, saw that!
  

This worth a record on my 2nd Damansara to Puchong trip:

• Between Damansara toll to 1 U stretch, speed around 140 all the way, finishes curvy roads at 160kph Speed past 1 U at about 180kph, but had to brake to slow down very soon for f***ers cutting queue to exit TTDI
  
• The 1st trip tested with 90kph, so I raised my bar abit to 120kph. Clean sweeped the whole tunnel, not even a tiny little bit of tyre screeching noise
  
• From SS2 to Kelana Jaya LRT station. God knows reason, heavy traffic, unable to speed and whack corners
  
• From Kelana Jaya LRT to Paradigm, still heavy traffic?! May be it's people in shopping mall start going home
  
• From Kelana Posofiz to SS3, the 1st trip 160kph ady beyond my usual appetite, this round just gradually enjoy at 100kph
  
• Western Digital was heavy traffic ON THE RIGHT LANE. So I took the left lane all the way overtook the long stretch of vehicle at about 120kph.
  
• LDP furniture there change to right lane as left side start building up heavy traffic.
  

2nd Puchong to Damansara trip:
Driving at normal speed, but maintain 80kph dodging traffic, taking corners.

Overall, today I have not being able to make the tyre scream at all. This has the pros and cons on the newly installed anti roll bar. The pro is, it does improved the vehicle agility, sharper corner, more tyre surface contact whilst taking corner. The con is, frankly the speed that I'm doing now is already way beyond the tyre's original capabilities. Most of those corner would have been making lots of tyre screeching noise already if the ARB wasn't there. I however believe, that takes away the awareness of tyre limit, which is extremely dangerous. Imagine, when the car is heading a very huge lateral force, say 160kph at the corner, if suddenly the lateral force already won the better, my ranjia ZE522 rubber suddenly lose grip, and what happen to my car? Probably 160kph drift and find something to test side impact ady A famous quote from Spiderman: With great power comes great responsibility. The above is solely my personal review, and 1 shall not take it as their own targeted speed. Actual handling fact and speed greatly depending on driver, condition of the car, setup and tuning as well. Even giving 2 same car running on the same track by a same driver, 1 wind blow can make significant difference to the outcome.
