QUOTE(v1n0d @ Sep 17 2014, 01:02 PM) If I sell my inventory on the Steam Market, is there any way for me to convert what I earn into hard cash instead of just Steam credit? Cant convert from steam credit. Only option is to buy items from steam store with that credit and sell it to users banking the payment into your local bank. You can either buy games or cosmetic items... |

I would like to share some stuff with you guys and hope you guys can provide some feedback on this whole idea and concept.
Let me first introduce myself, I'm one of the co-founder from a new startup who is responsible to build this whole thing. Our first product is called Hook. As an overview, Hook is something like eBay fused with Whatapps, which is a marketplace which rely on chat to commence the deals. We notice that in daily usage, most people would browse online forum or marketplace, searching for stuff they wanted and then proceed to PM/Whatapps the seller to proceed further in the deal. Also, other solutions in the market doesn't seems to offer a complete solution for a whole deal to go through as they only act as a marketplace for people to meet up, but the lack of payment option with buyer/seller protection often met with scammers hanging around, trying to score something in their bank account. So, how this could helps our local Dota 2 trading community? Hook is currently in our open Beta, where we focus on gathering feedbacks and continuous fixing bugs and improve stuff based on what we hear from you guys. We would like to kick off our project by starting in the virtual items market before pushing it for the physical product market much later on. How Hook works is that you browse for items, then you start a chat with the seller. Within the chat itself, you can create transactions which then will allow the buyer to make the payment via Paypal for now but we are looking into local bank payment gateway in future. This payment will be made into Hook's Business Paypal account. You guys can then proceed with trading while the money is held within our account. Once the buyer received the item, we will then pay the seller to his/her preferred bank account or Paypal. Regarding payment to seller, it is handled manually as for now so we could offer a huge variety of payment method. Hook currently only support Malaysia and Singapore users, and their respective local bank. As for now, Hook charge 0% fees so if a buyer made a RM15 payment, the seller will receive RM15. Anyone could post their item for sale but in order to use our system to pay and secure the transaction, the seller will need to have verified Paypal account. You are free to deal privately but only transaction completed through our system will gain you more sales reputation as in future, other users will be able to see how much you had spent buying or selling in total. Please contact us if you wished to be a verified seller but doesn't have a verified Paypal account. You can find the info graphic of how the transaction flows below. For added initial security, all registered users will need to verify their phone number, as we will send you verification SMS just like most app do. http://gethook.com/image/transactionflow.jpg Hook is chat centric as there is where deals take place so we actually take it seriously to develop a great messaging platform that you could use even when you are not trading. Miss your MSN nudge feature? Yea, nudge your friend now for a quick game or just to remind seller to respond to your query. Our Liveboard allows you to draw stuff and your friend will be able to see it every single stroke on how you drawn it, just like Draw Something. We are looking forward to add features like custom emoticon like the old MSN days and etc. We want to build it in a way that you could use Hook to just chat with friends or others, like just a chat application. Last but not least, you can get our app on Google Play or through our web site. Unfortunately, we don't have iOS app yet as we are looking to build a solid Android app which our consumers want before kicking off the iOS version. You can feel free to PM me in forum or on Steam as well. Web site: http://gethook.com/ Support Email : support@gethook.com |

QUOTE(enriquelee @ Sep 24 2014, 10:01 AM) Yeap. Thats the trend of gaming nowadays.. Players are willing to spend a fortune just to get those rare cosmetics... Btw 1600 is nothing compared to those rare couriers that could reach hundred thousand ringgit... There are other games that has this type of market as well like TF2, etc |

Its just the feeling and bragging right of owning the most rarest item in the world... Similar concept applies in the real world. For example Limited Edition products, artifacts, antics and etc |
