I'm also coming from galaxy nexus. you definitely happy with Nexus 5 if compare with galaxy nexus's battery life recommendation by most of ppl is techbug. if you want more warranty support then try directd/satu gadget.

oh yeah. also suggest Wakelock Detector + Greenify is best combo must have. from Wakelock Detector, just can tap the highest wakelock app shortcut direct to Greenify it.

I can't remember where I refer, but my current setting as below:

during flash:
1. default speed for all core.
2. OC to 2.5
3. UV set to 700000
4. current ramdisk
5. check all optional stuff: disable fsync, S2W, FastCharge, etc....
6. also checked ElementalX governor (new in 0.15)
7. flash done and reboot.

after booted, then using trickster to control more:
1. mpdecision ON
2. checked fsync, OFF it if not
3. frequency locked ON, min 300, max 2.2 only although I flash to 2.5. manual adjust it when only performance needed. max screen off: 1.190
4. UV ref, (all credit to xda link I post in V2), I just extract it from the xml file attached:

N5 spec is using 1.2A charger. and no issue at all if using the converter since most are import set. htc one x should be using 1A charger (you can double check your charger spec). you will get charge slower for sure. suggest stick back original bundled charger.

Moto X have custom chip hardware, which is super low-power natural language processor dedicated for touchless control. so no point if dev porting or write touchless control app for nexus 5 by using main core processing, nobody want to drain the battery coz of always listening on voice command.

since android 4.3, many apps leverage google location service. which is very drain battery. android 4.4, implement location and power saving control but still not enough. below are few tips:

1. UV control, you may refer the setting table post before.
2. detect high wakelock service or app, betterbatterystat, wakelock detector, etc... any your prefer app can help
3. then greenify the apps
4. android 4.4.2, google hide AppOps. no problem, you sure know there is alternative to get it. control the permission, specially Google Play Store which is high drain battery service, and also your finding from No.2
5. power profile or tasker can help further or automate the connectivity control. set sleeping, working time differently. else can try GO Power Control, just follow the optimization guideline.
6. set min and max CPU speed, set max speed for screen off, all this can do in trickster too.
7. lastly, minimal the numbers of boot apps. just like what we do msconfig in PC. many apps can help on this.

optional: custom rom, cataclysm offer smart radio function. I found it's quite useful. screen off running 2G, enough speed for my whatsapp. resume LTE when screen on automatically.

p/s: there is someone post in ElementalX xda thread, managed to archive 10 hours SOT via this kernel. (I shared this before also in V2). Somehow, my best record only 7 hours SOT. But I found out he set Airplane mode during sleeping time, maybe I can do this too to get 10 hours SOT.

stock are always bare minimal. if you don't want to flash custom rom, only way is rooted and Xposed, to add kill all button.

In fact, there is nothing to say good or bad in these comparison, IMHO. it's just a pack of more information, records thread vs. another minimal style thread. Like kopitiam troll, "is not your personal blog here" to open thread in anyway but I would say, the best is follow and suite on majority request for all of readers and posters here (of course strictly follow LYN R&R still) but not just based own individual preferences. question:
after moved to N5, I found out that certain apps I previously used in gnex or restore from, no longer eligible to install/update from PLAY to N5, any N5 users here know why?

steps to reproduce:
I signed out my account from PLAY, I can see those apps but I can't install/update after sign in, such as Facebook. N5 user please try the link or share if any finding found, thanks.


would it be the apps still not compatible with KK? but my old apk can install Facebook and running everyday without any issue. or only happen on me?
