QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Jul 12 2020, 09:30 PM) Ur using two channels from 6400 to power each ultra? Is that how it works? My room is considered small? I was reckoning that an external power amp for the front stage for a room this size is an overkill. Good External power amp in small room, will not overkill . But you need to careful the power rating of your power amp only. Don't select the power amp too powerful. until sound level setting minimum value -12db still cannot get the 75db standard. QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Jul 13 2020, 01:12 PM) May I know what this 75dB standard is? Do you mean that an amp that is way over, when set at it's lowest level, will still be too loud? Marantz 7055 140W SVS Prime Pinnacle 20-300W SVS Ultra Center 20-225W Any opinions from the fellow sifus for powering this front stage? Is this overpower or underpower? Denon use Audyssey auto eq software to measure & calculate three thing, Room EQ, distance ( delay time) from speaker to your listening location. Sound level 75db from each channel & subwoofer to your ear level position. The purpose is make sure every channel come to your ear is same loudness & same speed. If one of your channel is too quiet or too loud , too slow or too fast. You surround sound quality will be drop. So Audyssey try to adjust sound level of each channel until 75db standard, even you are using different power amp to drive your speaker. So when you are using over powerful amp & your listening position is very near from your speaker. Audyssey may detect you need -15db to get 75db, but Audyssey limit to do -12db adjustment only. This is situation, you need to avoid. Sound level 75db is very important, over 75db your sound become Rough, less than 75db become weak. Because so important, denon & marantz ecourange people use professional sound pressure meter to measure the buit in test tone generator , avoid you get wrong sound level other than 75db standard. Calibrating levels using a Sound Level or SPL meterMarantz 7055 will not overpower. But not much improvement from your denon 6700 internal power. My friend who use whole set svs ultra system, he suggest you use the denon internal power first. After a while , find another power amp better than marantz 7055. QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Jul 13 2020, 02:58 PM) Thank you so much for the explanation. I have a much better understanding now. I was looking at the Emotiva XPA-3 Gen3 rated at 275W. Will this be much better than the Marantz 7055? The only thing I worry about Emotiva is the service center. Unlike Marantz/Denon, it would be easy to get to a service center locally. Am not sure about Emotiva unless someone knows. Yes 。 Emotiva XPA-3 will better than Marantz 7705. My Friend which use same svs ultra center as you , now using 200watt power amp to drive .

QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Jul 13 2020, 03:22 PM) May I know what amplifier your friend is using? Brand and model. I did a quick search for Emotiva service centers in Malaysia and SG. Didn't find any, if shit happens, I will have $7K brick. Sorry, My friend give wrong information, He is using Arcam p777 only 7x150 watt. But his room is smaller than you, 2.895m x 2.926m. Emotiva & SVS dealer in Malaysia should be Maxx Audio Visual Trading Sdn Bhd. I saw his website show Emotiva product. https://www.maxxht.com/

QUOTE(dex-brz @ Jul 13 2020, 04:26 PM) any Denon AVR users here? which Audyssey mode u using and why? Reference? Flat? or disable OFF? Normally reference is better. This is default calibrated setting with a slight roll off at high frequencies, which is optimized for movies.

QUOTE(dirk_diggler @ Jul 13 2020, 05:17 PM) His room is an exact square. How does the standing wave affect his system's performance? Yeah, they are the dealers, but I do wonder if they will be able to perform under warranty repairs. And they are located in Seremban which is at least 3 hours away from where I am. His room is full of heavy room acoustic, No more standing wave. You should try to contact maxx audio boss ask for further info. He is friendly & good service.

QUOTE(GuyB @ Sep 25 2021, 02:37 AM) My question is, will the quality suffer because the signal goes thru a non 4K AVR? Or will the difference be negligible? My Sony Blu-Ray 4K player does have 2 HDMI outputs. One for video and one audio. But now I'm just using the one into the AVR that handles both video and audio. If I use one HDMI2.0 straight to TV, and the other to AVR, won't the synchronisation be a little off? Actually best connection is separate output. Video hdmi output send Pure video signal without audio to TV , another Audio Hdmi ouput send pure audio signal without video to AVR. This way you get better video quality & better audio quality compare to single hdmi output. This post has been edited by kkthen: Sep 27 2021, 12:57 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

I got one question to ask sifu here, especially Minidsp user. Is it audyssey LPF for LFE 120hz so important? My friends blame their av processor don't have this LPF for LFE 120hz setting. This reason make their audio system bass performance become weak, even they are using expensive multi 15" subwoofer. So they try to use the minidsp set up each subwoofer crossover become 120hz to 15hz with 24db/slope. AVR speaker crossover set 80hz. Now they are happy, bass become strong. But I think this method look like they are not bypass their subwoofer internal crossover, even their already bypass with turn the crossover knob to max value. Is it this method correct way, nothing negative effect? AVR crossover 80hz 12db/slope, minidsp subwoofer output crossover 15 to 120hz 24db/slope.
After, I also find out many brand av processor like pioneer, yamaha , Sony, NAD, lyngdorf & trinnov. They also don't have this LPF for LFE 120hz setting. This setting only appear at marantz or denon which got audyssey tuning technology.
