QUOTE(drtai2014 @ Jun 24 2014, 12:24 PM) Just bought a 2nd hand 7.1 channel receiver to handle my dvd collection, mostly old movies which have been downloaded and 'burnt'. In order to overcome the different audio qualities of the dvd's, i have opted for this unconventional speaker set-up (to make full use of the many speakers I have, the number of viewers, the room acoustics, etc). 2 centre speakers below the TV, 2 front and 2 rear speakers to the front channel, 2 speakers each for the rear surround - a total of 10 speakers. And for the setting, instead of Dolby, DTS, etc which had not existed then, I used Neural music, etc for the special effects. I am open to criticisms or even condemnations. neural surround sounds interesting. never did have a chance to experience them.. |

sonerin,
nah..pricing is reasonable idea is to encourage more ppl to have a proper room acoustics. elevate our HT msian's to a higher standard as you oredy know room is the bigger speaker itself. biggest turn off is the room cant take the SPL sub. instead of gettin a sub, end up paying for nuisance 'noise' if the room is not properly done. note: pics are taken by owner himself..i had a hard time taking them in such low lighting level owner's feedback: * the walnut are 'real' wood veneer not the artificial made ![]() This post has been edited by carcrazy: Oct 20 2014, 02:19 PM |

Paskal,
True..sometimes with smaller cabinets, they are pretty nice to move around, easier to work with and easier to blend into the house decor. Also much simpler and less variables to address. but once an individual have experienced 15" or 18" drivers, its difficult to go back..thats juz me..hehe somehow with bigger drivers radiating area, the 'ease' that comes with it,its just plain addictive. they dun sound/feel the same. probably with a single push from a 15", its able to moves so much more air as opposed to a smaller drivers.with smaller drivers they do need to work much harder juz to match the output of a 15" driver my preferred HT setup, a system that can play with ease without going into tonal compression. sufficient headroom when its needed. good midrange 'density' and texture with weight and lower octaves 'meaty'. Front port is meant for placement near the wall as rear port tends to boom when place against d wall.
square room n sitting in d middle will get mostly cancellation of bass. Try to sit 1/3 length at the rear |

Completed room acoustics job on a HT room, Cheras/KL. Proper room acoustics provide up to 70% of the final sound
Job scope: 1. Timber ceiling - walnut finish 2. QRD wood diffuser N17 2X8feet X 4unit, N17 2X2feet X 3unit 3. Bass trap full height at all four corners, various density 4. Carpet tile - odourless 5. Raise the seat platform for 2nd row * all products are handcrafted by hifi creations Listening test: 1. Bass hits harder n tighter 2. Bass has more body n weight 3. Wider soundstage 4. Effectively reduce flutter echoes n standing waves 5. Able to play even louder without fatique 6. Add sense of 'air' n retains natural ambience 7. Gives the impression of being in a much larger room 8. Most of all, rattle free ceiling ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Paskal,
Wat to do, owner never allow me bigger project..lol anyway the speaker excels in large scale imaging, dynamics and full-bodied midrange to give u the 'realisme' feel will post the sub later when its done veneering if u like to hear a bigger speaker, do come to this year KLAV mariott show. I have prepared an exciting 7 feet tall speaker..pls intro urself when u see me.. The demo will be conducted in a fully analog rig system peter32, Surround ideally shd be similar speaker as the front if budget allows it |
