Yes. Those new projects that we undertake, we ask the owners whether to build it in or not as 'future proof'

Paskal, have you watch at the Dolby Atmos cinema at 1U? I intend to try it out when I am free.

I tried the one at 1U... Not very impressed.

I suppose the theory is good, but the problem is with implementation. The speakers they have setup is sub-par in my opinion. THX only goes down to 40 hz or so,.. to me, IMAX, even with their 5 speakers, sounds a lot better.

After all that said, I would think getting the cables ready for extra speakers for those building their home theater is a good idea as Atmos is certainly going to be mainstream. You could probably do a much better Atmos setup at home compared to the ones in the cinemas today.

Last few pages of just conversation against recommendation by thread starter.

I'll try to break the trend.

TV Model : Samsung 60" (A few years old already - need to step it up to compete with all the sifu's here)
Amplifier :  Marantz MM7025
Integrated Amp: Marantz NR1504
D/A Source:  Marantz UD5004
Front Speaker :  B&W DM 603 S3
Center Speaker : B&W LCR60 S3
Surround Speaker : N/A
Subwoofer : (2) Sunfire True Subwoofer MKII 2700W
Interconnect/Cable : All Audioquest Cables

Need to upload photos of the components.

A mix of 50/50 movies and 2-ch stereo music.  Already thinking of how to revamp the entire system.  Any suggestions?  Last time I posted in this forum was in 2008 I believe.

The B&W's are incredible sounding speakers for the money.  The midrange is sweet, crisp, non-fatiguing and beautiful.  Some say they are bit heavy handed on the bass, but I disagree - if anything the ones I have are a little lacking, hence the need for two Sunfire's.

I saw some incredible systems here before - one girl, I remember, posted her complete McIntosh setup (back in '08).  Wow!

Chin,

Those looks like really nice speakers. Thanks for sharing. If you have open house for auditioning, i would love to have a listen to them.

For me the absolute size was very important, so I needed something that could deliver a lot of power into the driver.  At the time (1999) this was really the only option out there.  At 2700w it was definitely the most powerful subwoofer of its size, and one of the most powerful in the consumer market.  Velodyne had some really nice ones as well that I auditioned, but the Sunfire was the baddest of them all.  I actually recently bought a Velodyne Minivee, but it did not have the power I needed, so it is sitting in storage waiting to be sold.
ChiNO,

So I take it size is the deciding factor? Ie, a small footprint? From my experience in AV, in order to get any 'real' output below 30hz, the bigger the better. And multiples are better as well for bass smoothing.

Can roughly estimate how much higher premium i paid?
Just curious...

Once you already bought something, and if you're happy with the sound, then try not to look up how much cheaper you could get. Just enjoy your system. You'll be happier.

BTW: I do like the JBL speakers for movies.

Get one with a frequency response closer to 80hz. That would be the 65 to 67/PT
