data pulled from ~35,000 drives.
some WD green, even some WD red.

lowest failure is from hitachi drives. too bad they're no longer available. too bad indeed.
but guess we all know what brand to avoid now don't we?

on-going project building a custom HT room for HT enthusiast
* original plaster ceiling was torn down due to unbearable rattling noise. hence room re-built
* timber ceiling with walnut finish in satin
* 4 custom corner bass trap with premium cloth (breathable, smooth and dark rich black color)
* custom wood walnut finish QRD N17 diffuser 2 X 8 feet ( idea is to increase the width of the soundstage & improve room acoustics)
* install carpet (does not give bad odour after prolong used)

designed and handcrafted by Hifi Creations

sonerin,
nah..pricing is reasonable
idea is to encourage more ppl to have a proper room acoustics. elevate our HT msian's to a higher standard as you oredy know room is the bigger speaker itself.
biggest turn off is the room cant take the SPL sub. instead of gettin a sub, end up paying for nuisance 'noise' if the room is not properly done.

note: pics are taken by owner himself..i had a hard time taking them in such low lighting level

owner's feedback:
* the walnut are 'real' wood veneer not the artificial made

that's why people don't go for monster subs.

6.5 inch speaker already enough to get 20hz bass. 8 inch sure can play super 10hz no problem. saves cost can avoid rattling, so no need to rebuild the ceiling. tongue.gif

Paskal,
True..sometimes with smaller cabinets, they are pretty nice to move around, easier to work with and easier to blend into the house decor. Also much simpler and less variables to address.
but once an individual have experienced 15" or 18" drivers, its difficult to go back..thats juz me..hehe
somehow with bigger drivers radiating area, the 'ease' that comes with it,its just plain addictive.
they dun sound/feel the same. probably with a single push from a 15", its able to moves so much more air as opposed to a smaller drivers.with smaller drivers they do need to work much harder juz to match the output of a 15" driver

my preferred HT setup, a system that can play with ease without going into tonal compression. sufficient headroom when its needed.
good midrange 'density' and texture with weight and lower octaves 'meaty'.

i understand. since you're also providing custom solution which includes the design process, you need more in depth knowledge than most people.
it's astonishing the amount of clueless-ness i sometime see in the forum. laugh.gif

some burned, some failed experimentation, some not completed, and some perfected and used.
i reckon i built a lot more than these. maybe not uploaded, or already burned. heh

can't build something custom if you can't even grasp the basic concept, no?

if i could, or were opting for massive ULF i would've integrated infinite baffle setup right into the house structure. but too bad my ears can't take prolonged pounding from <15hz. i have 6x15" drivers that are perfect for IB.
