It will give you the same effect

So it will give the same effect for HT as well and it should be very good! Thanks for sharing bro! thumbsup.gif

Btw, do we need to get a good tube amp to paired with the avr for HT? I saw some like PrimaLuna Prologue 4 which is quite affordable but not sure is it good for HT setup.

I cannot say that expensive is good for sure. For HT purpose, most important is it has HT bypass to start with. After that you need to consider what speaker you will be driving. Those high efficiency speaker is ok.

Well some lower end does have HT bypass. I guess is up to the manufacturer of putting in the feature in. ktek already answer is MP501 with KT150 tube

Thanks fyi bro! So beside HT, you can also use the Tube amp for music. Very good indeed!

I supposed HT bypass means connection to the power section bypassing the control or pre-amp section, right?

Love the mcintosh very much. How I wish I can afford it smile.gif Anyway, why not use MA for center as the timber matching will be off.

3 way is better. Is full range as in high, mid and low. 2 way is pretty much high and low mix with mid because got less driver

We cannot generalize that 3-ways is better than 2-ways. In fact, the crossovers (2 crossovers for 3-ways, 1 for 2-way, and none for full-range driver) introduce undesirable distortion to flat response that we try to achieve.
In the final analysis, a speaker that is well designed irrespective of how many drivers it deploys should sound better than another that is not.

Oh yes we can generally say 3 way is better than 2 way as I mention. Of course better design of speaker can have 2 way speaker sound better than 3 way speaker. When both are comparable 3 way is better

Yes, I agree. Actually I am already thinking of upgrading my Center speaker to a bigger one but the size must not be too big that can "fit" on my AV rack.

Ban Leong was previously the distributor for MA and have dealer in KL but too bad its no longer the distributor. Eng Siang International Ltd in Singapore have just recently taken over as distributor for MA but don't have dealer or agent in KL yet. sad.gif I called to them in Singapore enquiring about this. I know that speakers rarely have problems but have to send back to Singapore for warranty claims. Also, I prefer to audition first before I buy and the distributor still not yet have dealer here.

Also looking into changing my MA too. Have auditioned floor-stand models from Sonus Faber, Focal, Usher, Mission and Dynaudio. Still not sure which one fits my taste.

I agree. There are too many factors which determines the sound quality. The number of drivers is just ONE of these factors. After determining many of these factors, at the end of the day, we try to squeeze out as much as possible for the money we pay and THEN let our own ears listen based on our own tastes and preferences. Its not easy to choose. Auditioning at showrooms are NOT the same as listening in our own rooms due to the acoustic differences. Anyway, my personal preference is 2 woofers, 1 mid-range and 1 tweeter but its up to each person to choose differently.
