SC was saying they only add the insulator in 3rd svc. 1st and 2nd svc they wont entertain. But at 4th svc maybe still possible. I went to UMW Sec 19, PJ n told them any remedy for the roof during rain. That was during my 2nd svc. Then SC asked me to remind them during 3rd svc n they will arrange. Yes need to leave the car wif them 1 day. And yes FOC!

Thanks for the heads up !

Keep the RM1.8k, soon enough you will have new OS for cars, either Android/iOS.. and the GPS will be obsolete smile.gif

Same here, got mine 2 days ago without the aerokit ( waiting for TRD's kit )..
For coating, a friend of mine recommended a coating specialist at Sunway ; http://www.shinenshield.com/contact.html.. might be going there next weekend.

I have to concur. Went there last week and raise a complaint on the rattling issue. Thier advice, "customer to monitor".

So many bashing about the car in here, that people tend to get the wrong idea.

This is my impressions of the 2014 Altis 2.0V.

Before that, about me..
I am a former owner of a Ae111 GT jpn (1999 Corrolla).
I used to touge every weekend at Genting up hill and downhill. Not only is my car the GT spec, I also equip it with TRD, FGK, Cusco and other rare japan acc. performance parts. So in terms of handling and built quality, I know what is consider a good car.

What i can say:

Pros.
1. Good Exterior design, better with the Aerokit.
Just for info> Original Aerokit comes with different exhaust muffler. Choose wisely.

2. Seats, Good quality leather (more keen on the sport look than VIP looks). thats y some say cheap looking.
Just for info> The front seats are actually from the levin ZR model. The 1999 GT model had red stitch, Altis came with white.

3. FC is also good. If you know how to control your appetite for speed. If not install a throttle controller like Tom's Fuel Map Controller. What you pay u get.

4. Ride quality is more on the sport side due to the low profile tires and increase damping from the shocks. N the car can take corners, Wait till they bring out the TRD Shocks n Spring with Front upper strut and rear oversize anti roll ball.
Just for info> Low profile tires are noisy. No comfort in there. You cant have both.
5. Dashboard, old school meets new school. Remember that the AE86 is from the corrolla family. So it resembles. And the old digital clock is one way of toyota tellling, We are bringing back the SEG era back. the clock and not to mention the side mirror switch is the same use in the 1992 - 1999 gt.
Just for info> The dash and seat setup is more on the performance and ergonomic sitting style. Not the VIP sitting pleasure. And toyota like to re-use interior and engine parts due to reliability. If its not broken, don't fix it.

6. Rear leg room, Very Good with the reclining backseats..I am 6 foot plus by the way. Downside is that they should had maintain the power socket in the rear as to the overseas market.

7. Power house.Yes, bring over from prev model, but the ECU is re-tune for better Performance and FC.

Cons.

1. Built quality not like they use to make them, But other manufacturer are also doing this. But their after sale service is the best. You just need to know how to approach them with the problem in hand.
Just for info> I had issues like the rattling noise from HU (player), left door trim, fuel lid, some even had shaking passenger seats. But mine is solved after 2 visits. Would you go VW which has the best interior and exterior quality but problematic DSG?

2. Spec wise vs value, not the best in the market. VS KIA example.
But In terms of tech and reliability the best in the market.

3. Paint Quality, High Gloss but orange peel. This makes the paint chips easily. I made a complaint to Toyota HQ, They just called for an appointment, finger crossed.
Just for info> Don't waste money on coating it will still chip, instead have it re-sand and apply a thick clear coat (Glasurit) which will much stronger.

4. Should had made the VSC, TRC and 7 airbags standard on all trim level. Family first should be the motto.
Just for info> Never let tech overdue driving skills.

5. Roof needs added insulating, Same case as Vios. I made a complaint to Toyota HQ, They just called for an appointment, finger crossed.
Just for info> My friends Aston Martin roof is much worst than the Altis roof. If they are more complaint to UMW Toyota HQ, We can see replacement parts for the roof like Vios.
Thats just some the good and all of the bad. I  can go on and on..but currently bz working.. biggrin.gif.

Judge yourself.

Heads up:
Toyota currently are benchmarking this issues with other cars in stock.
I find this one of the stupidness way to rectify this issues, especially when the issues comes in batches. For sure they will get the same quality like we have current. And when that happen they will say, same with the current stock. NO problem there.
If you go alone, for sure you will be disappointed and walk away. But if we stand together and bring this to them. Theres hope.
What you are doing now is the right way. We need to rally all owners to the UMW HQ with the complaint written and signed, just like vw club group did. This way, they will know how serious this issues are. And for sure there will be recalls to fit the insulating of the roofs. UMW is trying to avoid this as it will affect their marketing cost budget plans.

And at the same time we can TT after that. biggrin.gif
