I traded in my 8th gen honda civic after it gave me so many problems. I heard about altis' legendary reliability so I got myself the 2.0v. Been driving it for 3 weeks and i encountered the following problems:

1. Right sideview mirror motor is really loud compared to the left. It also folds slower than the left.
2. High pitch crackling/ticking sound from center plastic console when driving over uneven roads. Happens really often and is really irritating. I am surprised that a brand new car would have this problem!!
3. When RPM is around 1250, there's loud rattling sound from the dashboard. This can be re-created even idling. Just step on the accelerator and let the RPM hover around 1250 to enjoy the music.
4. Air cond is really cold. Not sure if this is a problem, but at even max 28 degrees (outside temp about 30), i can still hear the air cond compressor running every ~10 seconds. I had to turn off the air cond often or use outside air, which is inconvenient
5. Air cond compressor pretty loud, compared to my old 8th gen civic. Not sure if its something normal in an altis but my older car was quieter

Anyone else facing these problems as well? Or did I get myself a lemon...

From my experience of 2.0v after 3 weeks,

1) Sound is negligible. Right folds very slightly slower than the left.

2) I don't have this problem.

3) I don't have this problem.

4) Air cond is fine for me during the day, but noticeably colder during the night.

5) Depending on the fan level, it only gets loud above 3 or 4 bars. Not an issue for me since I always leave it at 1 or 2 bars.

Only problem so far is the roof insulation which I will ask the service center to further soundproof it during 3rd service.

The sound proofing is free? Or you have to pay?

Rattling noise near the cupholder and rear seats is pretty normal. Disappointed with toyota build quality now. Whatever the SA told you before you buy the car about how toyota is strict in QC is bs...

I have to agree with you on that. I'd actually expected better from toyota after hearing personal feedback from previous corolla owners

The pj service center is not very helpful and friendly. Can't solve the noise issue. Haih...

Altis is cbu from Thai, or does it not make any difference?
*
For Ckd at least parts are manufactured in Japan, assembly in Thailand. Cbu in Thailand means manufacturing and assembly in Thailand. Maybe that's why the drop in quality?

Ahh wait...i think i am wrong on the terms. CKD means re-assembled locally in malaysia. I suppose CBU should have better quality, since no need reassembly...

Just to update my experience with seksyen 19 SC. I found the customer service pretty good. They did try to resolve the tick/squeaking sound from the center console. The sound initially stopped coming after the repair, but after the next day it's back although not as frequent as before. Will send it back again for checking.

Overall i think the service experience is good.

ya, i think 9th gen, still not familiar with corolla's generation number...
i already changed lower arm for both sides, absorber mounting both sides, and absorbers both sides, still gave me same feeling, weird... maybe need to ask another friend driving same car for test drive for comparison.

Is your tire overinflated? When i received my 2014 altis i had similar feeling, steering is floaty and 'too sensitive ', slight unevenness in the road can change steering. I later discovered my tires were over inflated to 320 kpa(!!). Once i reduced it to the recommended pressure the floaty sensation is gone

On a related note, any new altis owners encounter having your car delivered to you with over inflated tire pressure? Mine is a 2.0 V. Car was delivered to me with tires at 320 kpa. The max pressure limit on the sidewall of the tires are stated at 340 kpa, but the recommended tire pressure indicated on the driver side door entrance is at 220 kpa. I drove like this for 2 weeks and only after consulting my friends about the floaty/over sensitive steering, then i realised that the tires were over inflated. Just wondering if its standard operating procedure for new cars to be delivered at such high tire pressures

Hi all I'm very happy with the car. But lately I'm hearing some weird noises from inside of the radio. I pinpoint it to the DVD player of my car. The screen is making the squeaking sound when on uneven roads. I try pushing the screen a bit and the sound stops if Iet go of the screen the sound is back. Anyone having this problem? Any solution for this guys? And also I didn't get the service booklet? Doesn't the altis cakes with a service booklet? Please help.

Yes same problem I had. It's the plastic trim. I sent to the SC for them to install insulation and the problem was resolved. I went to the PJ seksyen 19.
