i just got my altis 1.8E a week ago, my problem is when i park my car for few minutes (totally engine shut off) then start the engine and drive for few second, it will coming out a "dak" sound from the front, somewhere around the break and then dak sound never appear again while driving until next time i park my car with engine shut, start the engine and drive for couple second, it will appear again. Today sent my car to Wheelcorp old klang road for 1k service, ask them to check the problem, at the end they told me its normal, in the SA job sheet it printed "ABS accurating sound", the SA even told me they have tried other altis, also same got this "dak" sound.

Wanna know you guy got this kind of sound? If i wish to complaint again, which SC should i go? btw my dashboard got rattling sound also but my 1st priority is to solve the weird dak sound. Toyota reliability really suck, the trunk feel like milo tin whenever i close it, my 12 years old 9th generation Altis much keras than this tin car. rclxub.gif

Here only discuss new Altis? No 1st gen Altis owner here?
Just got myself an used 1st gen Altis, I found the steering abit hard to control if driving 100km/h and above, like abit of wind/uneven highway road it'll shift direction abit. Anyone know if this is normal? I saw people commenting Altis's floaty handling, is this the meaning?

You mean 9th gen altis? last time my 9th gen same thing happen like you, after changed lower arm problem solved.

RM 70/ 350 KM = RM 0.20/KM....Normal or high fuel consumption for Altis 1.8???  hmm.gif

for me quite ok for 1.8 engine (my altis still less than 5k mileage), of cause cannot compare with 1.5 siti or weoz FC rolleyes.gif

To anyone who fed up with UMW Toyota service quality can send complain mail to
ap-overseas@mail.toyota.co.jp

you will get better attention from UMW Toyota hq, and those SC will treat you better. I sent an complain mail to Toyota Japan and got a reply at the same day.

Make sure state all your Altis problem, car registration number, Name and contact. You can attention to Tadao Kidokoro.

My altis also facing dashboard rattling noise, i tried dismantle the dash trim and meter panel myself still unable to solve the problem. In the end it was due to the defrost vent at the windscreen making rattling noise, so i use black cable tie to insert (cucuk) into the place between the vent and the dashboard and the rattling noise went away 100%. And my middle driver side air cond vent making rattling noise also, i use a small sponge (black in color) and knead it into small size and put in between 2 vertical fin, problem solved.

I get my car a week ago...
Anyone facing the car soundproof very bad, when motorcar passby can hear like open windows.....Anyway to solve this issue ?
*
Is that bad, once you remove the door panel all you can see is a 5x5" sound proof material sticking there. Sound insulation 4 door with good material significant reduce it.

Did you mean remove the 5x5' sound proof material ?
*
No need, just keep it there and apply new layer sound proof.

IMO its not worth the downgrade, it will cost you rugi at least 40k++ to trade in your 2014 altis 1.8g.
