I am currently driving a myvi and would want to upgrade to a c segment hatchback and these are my considerations

1. Brand : Ford Focus HB , Mazda 3 HB , might consider HRV or XV
2. Budget : Rm80 +-
3. New/Used/Unreg : Used
4. Specs : Possible with price range
5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI: ANY
7. Type : any
8. Remarks : Prefer Hatcback / SUV shape

Have been very interested with Ford Focus but very worried of the gearbox and such after many researchs , can get a year 2012 focus for abt 70k+ , how is the mazda 3 when compared to the focus in terms of reliability ? thnx

there are many used car dealers and there are many myvi's, these two are very common.
if you cannot trust the guy or have a bad feeling in your stomach then trust it.
go and find another dealer.

Actually the Focus is a well built car and reliability issues aren't an issue nowadays for NA cars from top brands, but if you're buying a Korean/Chinese/Malaysian you might still want to consider this an issue -- most European and Japanese makes don't have a reliability issue nowadays.

Focus though has two problems:
1. Low resale value (high depreciation)
2. Expensive maintenance (well not really crazy expensive but among it's peers like Civic/Altis/Sylphy the parts can be 10-30% more expensive)

Thnx bro for d explanation, what do u think of d Mazda 3 HB (probably a year 2012 , the previous generation ) then, albeit more expensive than the Ford but considerably cheaper than other cars but still a Japanese car hence more reliable ?
