Earnings season is such a pain in the arse, better take profit earlier than sorry later.
BTO SPY PUT once market opened, and closed it when Yellen was half-way answering her call. ![]() |

I set a target of $0.70 and went to washroom thereafter. Back with profit due to rumors claiming a Malaysian passenger jet (boeing) crashing near the Ukraine border (talks of it being shot down).
Crazy day. ![]() |

QUOTE(morning06 @ Jul 18 2014, 12:56 AM) Wow another amazing trade! yes, and now big players stepping in to bring the whole market down. guess this will be catalyst for further war crisis.I bought CALL earlier and went for a drink with friend, got close out at breakeven before i even reach the cafe Market always anticipating catalyst to crash, this is an important air traffic route where almost all Asia flights will pass through. For example, an Air France flying from Malaysia to Canada will need to stop at France's Paris CDG airport hence, passing through this Ukraine territory as well. This will cause aftermath to mostly major airlines out there, and won't stop here it seems. I am seeing the SPY hitting at least $196 today before a weak bounce from there. Our PM should be notified by his beloved again at say what 8:00am tomorrow morning? This post has been edited by Brother J: Jul 18 2014, 12:13 AM |

You can short RSX (Market Vector Russia ETF Trus)
Though might be too late atm, yet worth to put on radar momentarily for swing trading after the initial dust settle down for a bit. |

Closing WWW PUT on earnings play amid this meltdown. Never know how hard the bounce will be for tomorrow since Ukraine and Russia are discussing a possible three day cease fire now.
![]() On second note, take a look at the power of options when I set a target (which I thought it couldn't hit within 15minutes break). The SPY JulWk4 196 Put went from $0.48 to $1.80 (lowest of the day). Base on the contract size I am trading, the calculation works in this way: ($1.80 - $0.48) x (300 options size) x (100) = $39,600. A potential of RM120k in hmm, say 7.5hours? ps: Once you went through the "mental torturization" phase, nothing can stop you from profiting even in a shitty market condition. A winning trade is always better than loosing one. +$6,900, is more than enough for a day. |

Would recommend optionsXpress (a.k.a. OX) for those who are interested in trading options. (Not that I get commision, just base on experience of using several trading platforms for options)Started looking at Options trading, but only Simulated / Paper Trading so far (via Interactive Brokers) |

Can't comment too much about IB since I am not using it. However, I have a few preferences when choosing the right platform for myself:
1) How fast does the wire transfer take? (both way) 2) How reliable is the data, eg: 1min/5min/15min timeframe compare to other trading platform? (I tend to have bad ticks happened every now and then when traded via TOS) 3) How helpful is the live support? 4) How fast can the trade be executed? OX pass all three with flying colours undoubtedly, while the last preference still belongs to TOS. However there is a workaround for OX to execute faster trade, in which won't defer any order excessively from expected entry/exit price. (It's known as walk-limit entry under OX's trade execution) This post has been edited by Brother J: Jul 19 2014, 12:07 AM |

CNBC used to post the link on top of the page whenever it's 10-15minutes prior to the speech. It will be taken down once the speech is over though. Obama did give a short speech and expressing his small bolas when dealing with Putin
However, it's always better than lossing $20k when the market opened lol. ![]() This post has been edited by Brother J: Jul 21 2014, 11:52 PM |

Kinda hate this range trading dynamics, any negative headlines can screw the bullishness, vice versa.
Things should get interesting when the European council meet up at Brussel tomorrow. It seems that Britain the acting knight will be the main speaker to gather more votes from its' european counterparts in impossing more sanctions on Russia. |
