my 1st post in Photography, Digital Imaging & Video

am noob in Photography but keen to start learning... what's the round round thing? it is nice!

what cam/ lens can shoot this?

edited using software?
*
The round thing is called star trails. It is round coz the earth rotates and therefore if u were to take a superlong exposure, u will notice that the stars start to make a curve line.

So basically i took this pic by merging approximately 40 pictures of 30 second shutter speed each. If u wanna learn in detail how to take star trails, best u watch on youtube.

U need to use a camera with manual controls, best is a DSLR, and for the lens, i used an ultra wide angle, but other standard range lenses also can.

*
I used a software called startrails, its free for download...

as the name implies, it is specifically for doing startrails

Not bad, but keep an eye on the horizon.. make sure its straight (unless its done intentionally crooked)

and also be aware of the lighting, i personally would much prefer pic 2 if the foreground was not so dark.

just my noobie 2 cents

user posted imageMisty rocks of Port Dickson by Leong Seng Chee, on Flickr

A rainy season in Malaysia meant dark gloomy skies, and uneventful sunsets. The forecast predicted rain, and the sun was no where to be seen. My gears were all packed and I had given up all hope. The golden hour came. 7pm. Nothing. And then suddenly, at 7.15, a break in the clouds! I was not prepared at all, and rushed out to snap a picture, looking for appropriate foreground. I had at most 10 minutes. And then it was gone again. Half an hour later, the lightning came. I'm glad I managed this shot.
*
Nice shot, but just my 2 cents, i feel that the lead in lines causes my eyes to drift to the left side of the pic (mainly contributed by the rocks forming a left curve) which can be a little distracting and also i find it just a tad bit too saturated.

great shot here. i wonder if u held the camera higher, pointed slightly downward to get some road it may have been better leading lines. the left most lamp post is cut a lil in the frame. distracting and might as well crop out. my two cents smile.gif
*
Thanks for ur comments, but i wasnt tall enough to get a bit of the road, and even if i was, the amount of road i could get is too little that it would most likely retract from the picture and by tilting down, i might also lose the tip of the eiffel tower. But i completely understand what u mean. Thanks again for the constructive criticism, will try to take more angles next time.

Love the 2nd pic, really awesome shot, just reminds me of how children can find joy in the simple things in life.

Actually I like them all, nothing much I can criticise. I feel that as long as a picture can invoke emotion, theres nothing much that needs to be changed.
