bro, somehow we buy electronics we don't only judge how it looks.
there are a few angles we have to look at other than the design.  icon_idea.gif
im using York air con not sure if it is inverter, I bought it a year ago 1.5hp including installation price is rm1300.
so far no complaint.

Actual room size in meter please
*
350sqft = 32.5sqm
this for living+dining
this i got so many conflicting theories from frens.
1x2hp (strong nuff and better than 1.5 cos no need work so hard to keep cool)
1x1.5hp (enough lo. ur hse so small...)
2x1hp ( for the cost of 2x1hp which almost equal to 1x2hp, and both work in moderate cos cooling faster n more consistent. n if u wanna cool down in certain part of the area for 2-3 hrs, on 1 only...)

so i guess i post here for your feedback. d more the merrier, eh, they said?

130sqft = 12sqm
this for bedroom. i guess this 1hp enough?

tks!!

How many square ft, I'm not really sure of how big your room size, can give me many meter from Wide x Long in meter more accurate.

Size are 1 factor, but the main factor is the room condition(facing north, south, east, west), brick used, roof ventilation , height of the room and furniture inside.

How you guy think of next year electrical appliances purchase ? Next yrs will be start of GST.

I believe all the electrical appliances will be goes up base on percentage GST.

If an aircon cost RM1500 now, next yrs probably will be RM1500x6% = RM1590. A fridge cost RM5000 will be RM5300. That pretty high. sweat.gif

Should I plan to buy everything this yrs to escape GST?

How you budget it still higher with the GST. How to escape the GST ? Unless the businessman can absorb it.

Can I budget instead of using 1hp from 1.5hp?

Hope the imported tax can reduce from single item at 35%.

In s'pore for 7% GST only, don't have 35% import tax.

Room facing direction, facing east means evening won't have any sunlight, so lesser time to cool down. Facing North or South, depending on time, like first half year North will get the most sunlight from morning till evening(indirect), second half will be south. West no need to say, evening direct sunlight. So the air cond running time will change.
Brick used, red bricks are better than sand brick on heat rejection.
Roof ventilation, roof are the hottest part in a house, so if you can cool down the roof, your air cond no need to run so long.
Height will also affect the room, usually higher are better.
Furniture if got more it will reduce the room size.
All of them are inter related.

On last Saturday I went to Modern Home Fair in Mid Valley and survey for good bargain on air-cond.
I met one salesman that highly recommended Samsung as it comes with the new Triangle Design --> More air-in, bigger fan eventually more air-out (picture in spoiler).

Anyone already bought the new Samsung model? rclxub.gif

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Also, I found the guide from the link below on how to a proper size for air-cond :

http://voyager8.blogspot.com/2008/04/how-t...ner-wisely.html

http://papamy.panasonic.com.my/papamy/faq.html

http://www.energystar.gov/?c=roomac.pr_properly_sized

What it does it guide you to calculate the British thermal units per hour (Btu/hr) based on the room size in square feet, then compare to the table/chart in it, finally you shall have better picture what size of air-cond you need to get.

I follow the guide provided and found that the room I plan to install air-cond need around 11,000 of BTU capacity, that should be at least 1.5HP and not 1HP. doh.gif

they will alwaz recommend bigger HP 1.... install a fan and 1HP will do.... u dont need to get cold air all around the room...let the fan circulate it ...

how many sf ur room ? if 200-250sf, 1HP is sufficient

ur room 450-550sf ? its a living hall size , then 1.5hp only sufficient laugh.gif laugh.gif

Thanks for the advice. smile.gif
My room size around 170sf and I thought getting 1HP is more than enough.
After reading the link I provided earlier, my room windows facing west and it is much hotter from afternoon until evening, that's why not sure should I stick to 1HP or move on with 1.5HP. rclxub.gif

6x5m you can consider for 1.5hp but quite suffer.
Either go for 2hp much better for energy saving, cooling fast and use less energy too

If wanna consider for inverter can be option for panasonic 1.75hp that is just right
