QUOTE(kimsim @ Feb 27 2014, 05:57 AM) Anywhere I can unplug is out. Wall socket and plug or the switch is a bottleneck for any electrical thing. Specially high current applicance. But it is no choice if you need to ON/OFF the applicance or taken out for convenience. For example like clean out fan blower or simple change whole fan blower or removed and wash. Anything is depend your Aircon installer how to fixed for you. Concealed wall should come with wall plug for power supply 13A I guess. Nothing to decide new aircond dunno where to fixed, usually Aircon guy would prefer tap from nearest power point and put it on & off switch like water heater only. But given a choice like a aircon that you don't need to takeout and switch ON/OFF mainly, you don't need a wall switch or socket. The aircon already built in a starter and safety device. Plus your MCB and rccb to protect. You just switch off the MCB and rccb when service. An applicance running high current will running hot at the switch and plug. The loose contact, bottleneck contact, corrosion and carbon at contact is a few cause. When the guy come and install your aircon, you either point to where you want to install. Or ask for an opinion from the guy. The next is, you want to pay extra to conceal the wire or save cost just hang the wire out. This is normal scenario. Here what happen when wire corroded --> https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2954371/+160?hl=panasonic water heater |

QUOTE(platinum_12 @ Feb 27 2014, 08:54 AM) Mind to share what is the problem? i don't see any problem using this setup other than costing a little bit more. The advantage of putting a wall plug, is that, you can add a power surge protector to it and there was a fuse in the plug. Other than that, it just for convenience. How do you add a surge protector on your wall plug? Ain't it getting ugly with all this device and wire on your wall? Have you seen this red/green button box magnetic starter back 80's or 90's on the wall for an old aircon? It look ugly and like a factory. The new aircon is already built in with such device. That is why you don't see installer install such thing anymore.I have been using aircon for 16yrs. I just use the remote to ON/OFF. OFF the MCB and rccb when service. If given a switch at the wall, I don't no what I going to use for it. |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Feb 27 2014, 01:55 PM) For high current running, a wall socket and plug generally is not recommended, because the contact can be burned if the connection is not too good, or poor quality of socket material. Sometime you cannot see the problem is there till very serious. It just look like normal. But the contact is heating hot.I had seen several socket/plug "glue" together due to "burn" between the connection area. (for ordinary industrial fan usage one). I have an experience where the joint of the wire just look like normal from our eye. But the insulation at the end wire change color to burning brown. The back of the panel which hide out, also change color from the original paint. This is the sign that the joining side is heating hot due to large current flowing. But the joining is not enough contact space. Cause a bottleneck high resistance. It is only able to check by the infrared thermometer. |

How you guy think of next year electrical appliances purchase ? Next yrs will be start of GST.
I believe all the electrical appliances will be goes up base on percentage GST. If an aircon cost RM1500 now, next yrs probably will be RM1500x6% = RM1590. A fridge cost RM5000 will be RM5300. That pretty high. Should I plan to buy everything this yrs to escape GST? |

QUOTE(azman4243 @ Jun 18 2014, 08:46 PM) Just survey aircon price around seri kembangan. One of the shop selling pana inverter for 1650 for 1.5hp. Issit worth it to buy? Not an expert here. Need some opinion. Plan to install at the bedroom since weather getting hot nowadays. You won't get a good price at this hot weather month. It is a high demand month. Ask again in Nov-Dec. |

QUOTE(sovietmah @ Jun 21 2014, 01:40 AM) The panasonic aircon price already up almost 15-20% compare to last year. It is wrong time to buy aircon. Super hot weather season now. The demand is high. Who going to sell cheap?ur price exclude installation? It is like buying a chicken in raya holiday without the price control. |

QUOTE(wKkaY @ Aug 14 2014, 03:10 AM) These days, do airconds need magnetic starters? New aircon is already have a starter built in. And it been long time since back late 90's. I still remember Panasonic have a ads about this advantage. I haven't given much thought about it, but right now I can hear a faint hum coming from the starter, and it's also warm to touch. Because if I don't need it, and it wastes electricity and makes noise, I should get rid of it? Your magnetic starter contactor that energize metal part is getting dirty. (Forget the metal part name) It can't close properly together due to the surface dirty. That cause the humming sound. If yours is a new aircon, just direct joint it. Or put a 20A switch to replace the starter. |

QUOTE(weikee @ Oct 21 2014, 07:32 PM) How can one tell Panasonic are bad with only experience from that one unit in hotel room? Does that one unit represent the entire Panasonic A/C product? Is that unit maintain properly? had it install properly? and service? Who idiot complain your panasonic aircon got problem? Gas leak can come from many factor, not only the copper pipe alone. Join area, connector between the copper pipe to the compressor / condenser. All this are possible. I am using Panasonic inverter since 2011 Dec, I have to refill gas after 5+ month of using because the gas was empty, first refill after my installer/contractor find no sign of leak from the piping, we suspect was the condenser leaking which is impossible to fix without replacement, I had it refill FOC of course. And just before the warranty expired the gas empty again, I call up Panasonic for warranty claim, and they send a technician over to check. He confirm everything was find, and found micro leak is on the copper coupling/connection between the outdoor compressor and copper pipe. Kind enough he refill foc for me, and I call up my original installer, he change the coupling/connector. After that no empty gas issue. Is been working find, and I had it service every 1+ year. So this is Panasonic issue or installation issue? I also using York, Sharp in my house, all also cold and no problem. My neighbor using Daikin, just after 6 months install, every time she switch it on the compressor so noisy, I know because is just beside my toilet. After I told her she call up Daikin and came service, found bee hive inside, after clean up till now is ok and silent. So this one is Daikin problem? |
