QUOTE(Chew Yongxian @ Dec 20 2013, 02:53 AM) Guess it's better late than never. Finally joined the mechanical keyboard club. Got myself a nice Corsair K95 for a very good price recently. Loving it. Congratz you for having a mkb (mechanical keyboard). However, I got a question. Usually I do not get or buy brands I've never heard off or has funny names, but everyone at LYN seems to swear by it. Is Ducky Keyboards really that good? Pardon my ignorance. Please don't kill me. Ducky is very very very mainstream mechanical keyboard which provide most things you need; led backlit, dedicated media keys, n-kro, win-lock and etc. Most important, ducky having a standard layout , good for aftermarket keycaps replacement. edit: led backlit only available on shine series This post has been edited by quovadis123: Dec 20 2013, 03:04 AM |

QUOTE(Chew Yongxian @ Dec 20 2013, 03:43 AM) Recently became the owner of a K95, and I can tell you Corsair keyboards generally works perfectly fine. I don't think there will be major defects like a non working LED back light, unless something major like a transport accident occurs. Trust me mate, you won't regret purchasing it Recently, 1 of the forummer here with K70 , 1 led is not working and send the mkb back to RMA. True story, bro. However ,as to your Cherry MX Brown keys, I'm not sure if there are any sellers having stock of that type, and most will have cherry mx reds. Hope you do find one bro. raymondtong94 Please refer to this page https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3055950/+460 Post no. 476 |

QUOTE(Chew Yongxian @ Dec 20 2013, 04:00 AM) Hahahah that's why I said Corsair keyboards 'generally' works fine. Same goes to the other brands really. If you're unlucky you might get a minor defect since nothing has a 100% track record. But one spoilt LED shouldn't scare you into not buying a K70 or K95. =) Don't worry about it. Ducky LED also will spoilt. Your K95 is brown switch? |

QUOTE(oOoproz @ Dec 20 2013, 04:25 AM) U using which cherry?? Hmm just give me any feedback u feel thats good or bad...Cause I never used ducky's mechkey b4 I only owned ducky shine 2. The are few difference between the Shine 2 and Shine 3. The Shine 3 has all the new lighting modes and the new RGB space bar. The dedicated media keys were removed from the Shine 3 and replaced with the repeat rate/delay rate keys. The Shine 3 is also firmware upgradable for any new lighting modes that are released. All the other changes are internall processor upgrades etc. Typing experience should be same. My ducky shine 2 is Cherry MX Blue. Which is tactile and clicky. Good is key easily to replace coz having cherry stabilizers. Bad is the Costar stabilizers are better than cherry stabilizers because costar stabilizers is nice to type. Not a heart breaker also. Another bad is the abs key caps, get shining after typing for a while, may need find new key caps like pbt to replace. |

QUOTE(Human10 @ Dec 20 2013, 12:32 PM) Those SMD controller soldered onto the PCB itself is much harder to be replaced, still possible, but require more tools and skills. Filco one is detachable IINM, hence just plug and play. Mainstream things always not that good. Less freedom.BTW, the main problem with controller isn't to replace it, but to source it. I rarely see ppl able to get only controller, except for china forumers directly request from their distro/OEM. Kastam seems more interesting to me. |
