one piece of advice...try to heatshrink the whole plug instead of leaving a little bit of metal showing out. it looks better imho, but that's just me

hey btw pcworks...when u make the canare, dont cut off both sides of the shield, but cut off only one side...the other side of the shield...tie it to ground:
-[]]]]]]-----------------------------------[[[[[[]- shield to ground the connector where the shield is tied to ground should also be labelled somehow (maybe cut a small piece of different color heatshirnk and put a "ring" around it) the side that has shield tied to ground should connect to your source...it helps to gnd any interference away from the amp. also? i don't recall saying i prefer switchcraft
what i said was.... mini plug = Canare 1/4" = neutrik (high end) something I didnt say: XLR jack = switchcraft/neutrik 1/4" and 3.5mm jack = Switchcraft Neutrik's 1/4" jack (particularly the M-line and similiar) tend to turn yellowish after some time for some reasons and I've got no idea wth are those stuff...brasso could get rid of them but after you soldered them...you can no longer brasso it. |

QUOTE(Eokboy @ Jun 28 2006, 01:26 PM) Correct me if I'm wrong, but for Canare L-4E6S, 2 wires are used for ground instead of the shielding. IMHO the ground channel would benefit from the higher quality conductor in one the 4 wires. i think this has been answered. the two blue wires are tied to ground (obviously) and one side of the shield is also tied to ground. im not saying to tie only the shield to ground and not use the blue wires. |
