Howdy taiko2 dan sifu2 sekalian.. notworthy.gif

I've been a lurker here in this forum for a while, learning bits from everyone.

Like everyone, I just started back this childhood hobby.

Here is my car which i build after gathering knowledge from all of you for this fun race tonight which will be Semi-Tech (Semi-speed?)

I added front and rear brakes, roller depan 19mm with angle adjuster set at 3° due to the track mlm ni bnyk LC.

Kalau ada yg kurang atau salah, tolong tunjuk ajar ye sifu2 sekalian.. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

I hope so..will test it on track today. Thank you notworthy.gif

wahh!!!! cun bro.....espcially your rear HG bumper there....tested in track or not ur car?

Using this tire/rim might get ur car become a bit bouncy.....but will know once u test it

good luck with ur fun race...if possible, share some pics/video later  brows.gif  brows.gif

so how trending is Tamiya M4WD there in brunei? Got lots of rare stuffs or not?
*
Belum turun track lgi, baru siap 2hrs ago.. sweat.gif

Ok, so kalau guna tayar hard yg flat instead of arched will be less bouncy eh?

Tamiya M4WD sini pun dpt revival last year, kits and parts laku mcm pisang panas. Rare stuff tak banyak lah bro, kalau small2 parts like F1 tamiya parts tu and some first gens kits like Shining Scorpion, Vanguard and Victory magnum still around for cheap. brows.gif

car did go thru the track well. But the on/off switch somehow turns off by itself during landing. Anyone know how to fix this? sleep.gif

managed to fix it with spring washer.

Sifu2 sekalian.. notworthy.gif

I'm planning to build my first FRP car for this Super Speed fun race in Miri this weekend.

I have super2 chassis and reinforced MS-L that im still in dilemma on which one should I focus on to. From the pictures I've seen, MS chassis 'seems' (belom try lagi) to be the easiest one to work on, ie. tak banyak nak cut and not as much frps as conventional rear-motor chassis.

Dah bnyk gather info from LYN and the web. However, is there any tips or critical things that I should pay attention more to?

I shall await for super speed sifus to appear then.. notworthy.gif

QUOTE(soulfly @ Feb 14 2014, 11:23 AM)
I'm joining the same race.
Will be using stock bumperless MS-L without additional chassis cutting.
Some of my friends are using normal MS and cut chassis + reinforcing with FRP plates.

But you might also want to reconsider to do the Super II with light trimming and some reinforcement on the front bumper.

I'm not sure 100% myself because my hands are not good with crafting, lol.

The key is to make your setup as light as possible while avoiding chassis flex at high cornering speeds.
*
I have just bought a reinforced MS-L from Lau at emart and snapped some bumperless unit from etoys.

I will try to make a chassis by today, one thing i'm stuck now is the tires.
Sifu soulfly, you know anyone in Miri that does Tayar Sotong as a paid service? Been asking around but seems to be unsuccessful.

I'm tempted to make my own tayar sotong but I feel like time is quite short before this weekend. sweat.gif

Btw to the rest, i just got back from window shopping at 1999, seems that they've restocked AO830 bearings. Better snap'em quick before habis. rclxm9.gif

frp car a bit hard to make unless u have the right tools to do it.. i work mostly using mini router, pin vise and diamond cut file.. from my observation the easiest to set for MS or MS-L use the bumperless N/T unit and put the 2mm HG rear bumper.. 1.5mm usually cannot stand the high speed even the HG version (if u have properly break-in and tune motor).. slowly work the angle of the front bumper from 0 degree.. for super 2 it tend to loose power on cornering.. but i haven't tested yet the FRP version.. my weapon of choice for speed race would be MS chassis.. cornering like a ferrari.. hehehe..
*
Alright, I will proceed with the MS chassis then as this will be my first FRP super speed car.
When you mention about angle of front bumper, do you mean people actually make them in different angles to generate the optimum downforce?

Thanks for the tips sifu notworthy.gif

QUOTE(soulfly @ Feb 14 2014, 11:46 AM)
Last time I heard eToys wanted to provide tayar sotong service, but I guess they're not confident yet. They do tire trimming though. Forgot about the rate.
Otherwise, many people here DIY or order from West Malaysia (can't confirm who or where does the service).
*
Yeah, i did ask them few days back and the workers also informed me the same thing about this Tayar Sotong service. If im unseccesful on my DIY, i would just have to pursuade some racers on the race day to sell some tires to me..lol tongue.gif

Still waiting for a pair of AR 2mm HG to land here for it.
Those sotong tires yet to be fine tune.
*
Nice, I might copy paste some of this if you don't mind sifu?

So, just to reconfirm, the diameter for tayar sotong should be 35mm, and the width of the largest part of the tyre (yellow tyre) is 8mm thick?

Noted. Will try if I'm free to drive down to the capital, but mind you this is not the L.E with the 13mm bearings. smile.gif

Was browsing MTM, and found out that some of them made a FRP MA chassis car already.. brows.gif

Heard is due to low production of bearing 830. But will be resume by April and the price shall fall back. That's what
I came to know about.

They just got restocked at 1999/Hobby search.

USD6.16 a packet, around MYR20?

Made my first MS frp car.

Semalam turun track tpi asyik terbang je. Lowered the top rear rollers abit after realising the track wall was lower, but then terbang dekat LC pulak...but it was fun seeing how it overtook semi-tech cars with machdash pro on straight line even when i'm only running normal tires+ torque tuned motor.

Any tips?

I will have to try that once I have the right tools. Had few cramps on my palm after filing small HG sticks for hours.

Btw sifu, i have seen some people using stabiliser caps underneath on roller screws, does they serve as brakes?

i think it serve as a brake at LC.. btw i see u are using the 2mm HG stick shocking.gif .. either use FRP or the HG version that is 1.5mm thick.. much easier to work with..
*
Didn't notice it was 2mm till you mentioned it, i thought all HG icecream sticks weer 1.5mm sweat.gif

Anyways, went to join the Super speed atomic fun race today ni miri. Lap time done made the car stands 26th out of 46 racers. Super2 chassis won the event, but man, seeing the other MS frp cars with atomic inspires me to build better cars and learn on motor break-in techniques. notworthy.gif

Dear sifus notworthy.gif

care to share what's the difference between Semi-speed and Semi-technical?

From my understanding, semi should means half, semi-speed (1/2 speed, 1/2 tech) and semi-tech? ( 1/2 tech and 1/2 speed?) which is also the same thing? hmm.gif

Please enlighten this newbie.. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
