1. Preferred Brand: Asus / Acer

2. Budget: 1.5k-2.5k, can be paid in installments too.

3. Usage: College assignments, Programming, Movie, Music.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14"

Currently have my eye on Asus S400c with a price of RM 1999. Seems good enough for me. But I want to have some more opinion about which laptop I should get for my usage. If someone is using ASUS S400C, then please do a review. Thanks! smile.gif

Thanks for the recommendations smile.gif Are all these Asus models can allow the user to detach the battery? Because I've saw one post here in Lyn that the model K451LB have non-detachable battery. Wouldn't that shortened the battery life when the user want to continue using the notebook even when the battery is low?

Just wanna know the sifus opinions' here..
which one is better to have? SSD with an i5 3rd Gen processor or an i5 4th Gen processor but with more hard drive storage space?
Mostly use for assignments and basic web surfing.

[EDIT] Anyone knows where I can buy laptop through installment plan? I can't afford to pay fully in one shot.

sure get ssd with 4th gen i5 processor... if can... who still want old generation processor wor..

because
ssd = fast boot speed...
4th gen i5 = save battery (if no discrete GC)

Anyway, for your case...
if internal graphics (for example ultrabook etc), i will choose core i5 4th gen with larger HDD (slower HD speed but more battery and can save more files to hard disk) some laptop later can upgrade harddisk if you want (those not so slim one)....

if got discrete graphics and must want SSD, then choose 3rd gen with SSD lor...

haha 4th gen + SSD.. who doesn't want wor? But budget tight.
So I was thinking maybe get a 4th gen i5 with nvidia graphic card at least can play some games. and have a bigger storage space.
Was looking at the Asus S400CA, but now looking at some other ASUS model with 4th gen i5 and nvidia graphic card.
Any suggestions? Budget is 2.5k max
Best to have touch screen also icon_rolleyes.gif
any good place that allows me to pay in installments?
