Is i5 sufficient for Photoshop?

Please recommend some models (no Apple) with good service & warranty.

1. Haswell
2. Light gaming
3. Photoshop
4. FHD screen
5. 14-15 inch
6. Budget <3.5k
Thank you.

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Dec 4 2013, 12:20 PM)
Less than 2kg for 14-15" FHD screen below RM3.5k?

There's none that I can think of because of that weight requirement. The closest is probably the MSI GE40 at around RM3.9k. But it is known to have heat issues due to the thin chasis and the graphics card.
*
kytz sifu is right, closest would be these:
14"
MSI GE40-2OC, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GTX760M + (1600x900; anti-glare)@RM3499[1.8kg], 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8

*Note its HD+, not FullHD for this model

15.6"
Acer
R7-572G-54208G1T, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3599[2.5kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8.1

V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8

*Prices in RRP, negotiable

There are more picks if you (i) disregard the weight; (ii) up your budget icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Sifuss, need advice~

If I increase my budget to +/-7k, and not restrict to HP, what other model and brand can recommend? Do I need SSD? 1. Preferred Brand: Any
2. Budget: +/-7k
3. Usage: Autocad Plant 3D, Engineering analysis and calculation software (heavy graphic card usage)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14"  and above, light weight if possible
*
Holy, that is a good budget laugh.gif
For ~RM7k, can consider these:
15.6"
Dell Precision M4600 or M4700. Unfortunately we have no access to the latest specs and price, you'll have to deal directly with Dell or its resellers. Or perhaps can find putochip123, he might have some great offers for you. Last I heard he is having promotion for Dell/Alienware units icon_rolleyes.gif

HP
EliteBook 8570w, i7-3520M + Nvidia Quadro K1000M + (1920x1080) + Bluray@RM6299, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W7P/W8

ZBook 15, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia Quadro K1100M + (1920x1080; anti glare)@RM6399, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8

Illegear Configure Illegear units here: http://www.illegear.com/
Illegear RS-15 Lite, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GTX770M + (1920x1080)@RM4999[3.1kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster X-FI MB3], 8GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ] [GPU Options: Nvidia GTX765M, Nvidia GTX770M, Nvidia Quadro K1000M]

*Upgrade to Nvidia Quadro, upgrade to SSD, extend warranty to 3 years and grab an OS icon_rolleyes.gif

*Prices in RRP, negotiable
*Most workstations come with 3 years on-site warranty. Extend to 3 years for the Illegear.
*yeah, for your budget, definitely get an SSD brows.gif It will help boost your computer performance significantly icon_rolleyes.gif

The GPU is not very high-end, but since you don't game, its not really a problem~
* Use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years
* Price in RRP

Or if you prefer more performance, then an illegear RE-15 will do justice~

Hello guys,

I've recently read about the after sales service by MSI and was quite disappointed with it. Was deciding to buy the MSI GE-40 .

What do you guys think about the Illegear RE-15? Any issues or have anyone bought it? I find it really reasonable. 4k with that kind of specs.
*
You don't have to worry about Illegear's warranty support thumbup.gif
The cooling on Illegear gaming notebooks are in general pretty good too~
But for RM4k you can only get a basic RE-15 with no extended warranty, and now that the 120GB free SSD promotion is over already. Might want to wait and see what Illegear has to offer for X'mas promotion before buying. That is, if you can wait la icon_rolleyes.gif

Cant decide plzzz help

GT755m or GT755m SLI or GTX765 or GTX675

What is best for gaming performance?

Have to buy on January maybe not correct forum but plz help sifus TIA
*
Even if you have SLI doesn't mean gaming performance will definitely be awesome, especially if the game is not properly optimized by the developers hmm.gif
You can see here that the performance of the GT755m SLI is not always better than that of GTX675M: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Game...ds.13849.0.html

For me I'd go for GTX675M laugh.gif

Haha, no doubt, MacBook meets my requirement.

If I go for AIR, it's non FHD display, but its non-glossy.

if I go for Pro, its Retina, but its glossy. And I don't really like glossy.

and overall, I don't really like OSX. I'm using a MBP 2010 atm, and its running Windows 99.9% of the time  laugh.gif

*Most have long battery lives, though different people have different perspective of "long" haha XD You can buy a notebook + a few more additional batteries to get long battery life too hehe~

THe Vaio 13 recommended by God lee-what2004 sifu is a great choice since it offers around 7-8 hours battery life on standard battery, yet you still can opt for an additional (optional) battery sheet that will give you even more juice icon_rolleyes.gif
