Guys, after much consideration i'm moving away from Vostro 5470, to get one with graphic card simply mean going above my budget of 2k.

Looking at following models now, any final input from sifu here?

Lenovo S410P-9989 I5-4200 4GB 500GB NV GT720 2GB 14" W8

HP 14-N059TX/060TX I5-4200 4GB 750GB NV GT740 2GB 14" WIN 8

Price difference can be ignored as the financial package offered makes it more or less on level playing ground.

HP better hdd and graphic? Is not like you buy a laptop and use for few weeks right? So just buy the one with better specs.

intel iris pro graphics 5200 (GT3 + eDRAM) is just 15% lower performance than nvidia 750m... i guess a few more year dedicated gc is only on desktop replacements...

Need model with a good screen with "HD+ resolution, better screen colour", at that budget?
Nothing, iinm.
The model with HD+ or better screen at that budget is this:
Lenovo
U430T, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT730M + (1600x900; touch)+ 8GB SSHD + 500GB HDD@RM2799, 4GB, W8, 2 yrs
But the colour is poor.

Only 1366x768, and the screen is quite a normal TN, iirc.
If somehow the spec has been changed to HD+ with IPS (I wasn't aware of that), then it is a pretty good deal. Better confirm with re-seller it is really indeed the case. Also confirm it is Malaysia local set, otherwise may have issue with Lenovo Malaysia for warranty support even if it has international warranty hmm.gif

This spec is HD+ with a decent IPS, but I don't think the price has dropped to your friend's budget hmm.gif
IdeaPad Yoga 13, i7-3537U + Intel HD4000 + 256GB SSD + (1600x900 IPS; touch)@RM3799[1.5kg], 4GB, W8, 2 years warranty

What I said was the only HD+ Yoga that I'm aware was the one spec with i7. I did not recommend your friend to get that i7 Yoga since it is out of her budget.

If the i5 Yoga somehow come with HD+ IPS, then it suit her requirement. But I suggest she check with the re-seller to confirm:
1. it is indeed HD+ IPS (because afaik, Lenovo Malaysia did not launch this spec)
2. it is Malaysia local set.

if im not mistaken, Vostro 5470 also included a fingerprint scanner, may ease and secure your Windows log in.

those multimedia or gaming laptops will benefit you. but for SSD, it is quite impossible.

Illegear RE-13 Pro, i5-4200M + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080 IPS)@RM3999[2kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), Backlit Keyboard, FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]
Illegear RU-14 Pro, i7-4750HQ + Intel Iris Pro 5200 + (1920x1080 IPS)@RM3999[1.9kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS

Apple is overpriced, for Acer, Dell and ASUS, there is an option for it but they are 15" models, so they are out. so if you put out 13-14in, you can get this :

Acer
V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8
V7-582PG-74501225k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 256GB SSD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3999[2.2kg], 12GB, W8.1

ASUS
N550JV-CN077H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080; IPS matte)@RM3799[2.7kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8, backlit keyboard

Dell
Inspiron 15 7000, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1920x1080; Touch)@RM3599[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr

prices are RRP and negotiable. do note that Dell doesnt use IPS screen but during my hands on, the colour accuracy is very good, its like the best TN panel out there in the market. even the colours hardly wash out.
