Wah, that's a very high budget laugh.gif
Anyway, where are you heading to? Might be good to check the warranty support of brands at your destination before you consider what to buy nod.gif
Do take note that it might be cheaper or better (some countries have better specs for certain models/brands) to buy from the country you are heading to

These perhaps?

Hey T.J.
Thanks for the reply.
I'll be going to the Netherlands to be precise for a training. So, would really need something to get my time going faster.
The toshiba n the apple looks interesting. oh, I also download movies and series for that matter.
I've also check the price of laptops in the Netherlands, and to compare, they are much much more higher.
Last question, would you recommend the new n550jv?
*
The N550Jv is alright (do check whether its international warranty covers the Netherlands laugh.gif), though the specifications are a bit overkilled for your usage nod.gif
Unless if your training requires some intensive CPU/GPU tasks, or if you need the notebook to be capable of gaming, there's no real need for the N550Jv nod.gif

Anyway, the earlier recommendations by me focused more on the availability of an SSD, which will make your computing experience smoother icon_rolleyes.gif

Can consider Illegear's RU-14 Pro as well. Although its running on an integrated GPU, its by no means weak haha

what brand, specs and who offers the best prices now?
*
Assuming your budget is for 1x notebook only ya laugh.gif (its almost impossible to get 3 notebooks for under RM1.8k)

11.6"
Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E120, i3-2357UM + Intel HD3000@RM1999[1.5kg],W7HP, water resistant keyboard, Colors: Red/Black

Indoor Sales reps and clerks- Larger screen for better viewing and working efficiency + good warranty support
14"
Dell Inspiron 14-3437, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400@RM1399[1.99kg], Ubuntu, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), 4-cell; W8SL@RM1549

*Use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years on-site

Units for bosses- Assuming something small and portable
10.1"
Microsoft Surface Pro, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + (1920x1080;touch) + 64GB SSD@RM2749[680g], 4GB, W8P
*Price should be lower now since MS Surface Pro 2 is coming soon.

11.6"

Legal dept . If the PC is not to be moved from one place to another, its more cost-effective to invest in desktops (same goes to the other departments)

*Prices in RRP, negotiable

1. Preferred Brand : Asus / Dell
2. Budget : RM 2000
3. Usage : Study, Drama, Music (No Gaming!!)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 13 inch or 14 inch (13 inch better)

Yeap, I guess she only needs Microsoft Office and a few other media players to watch videos and to listen to songs.

Anymore intel core i5 processor variant?

I mean a laptop with intel core i5, but with at least 1.7kg weight or less...preferably 13 inch....

hahahahaha  icon_rolleyes.gif

Yo boss!
Long time no see notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
Can consider this:

Asus S300CA-C1050H, i3-3217U + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768;touch)@RM1999, 4GB, 500GB, W8

But you are aware of Asus's bad warranty support right? laugh.gif

If I were you, I'd go for this one instead brows.gif
13"
Samsung
Book 9 Lite NP905S3G-K01MY, AMD A6-1450 + AMD HD8250 + 128GB SSD@RM1999[1.58kg], 4GB, W8

Its not very powerful, but good enough for your mentioned usage, and it comes with an SSD yo brows.gif brows.gif
Looks good too~

Hello Dr TJ!  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

I've heard about the Asus bad warranty service, but is Samsung laptop reliable? I seldom see people use Samsung laptops hahahaha~

Anyway, is the i3-3217U or AMD A6-1450 fast enough without causing any lag? cause its my younger sister who is buying the laptop, worry if there's a problem with it sooner or later, and I will get blamed LOL  cry.gif  doh.gif
*
Aiyo don't call me that laugh.gif

Samsung's handphones are pretty reliable, that I know haha XD
Their notebook lineups should be pretty similar too, since the chassis of this Book 9 is sort of similar to the very thin, premium 9 series some time ago hmm.gif I played with one in Digital Mall last week, its quite good~
But one thing about Samsung is that their warranty cannot extend one, so you only get one year laugh.gif

As for fast enough (Samsung), its definitely fast enough haha, it has SSD man!
Even if you have loads of crapwares its still fast since the loadtimes are quick brows.gif

As for the Asus, although the CPU is slightly better, its running on a conventional HDD, so it will be slower than the Samsung for normal tasks. And will eventually become ever slower as the HDD ages. This will not happen to SSD brows.gif
