You need a reasonably good CPU. You will appreciate screen with good viewing angle and reasonable colour reproduction.

Acer
V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8
V7-582PG-74501225k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 256GB SSD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3999[2.2kg], 12GB, W8.1

Asus
N550JV-CN077H, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080; IPS matte)@RM3699[2.7kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8, backlit keyboard

Dell
Inspiron 15 7000, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1920x1080; Touch)@RM3599[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr

HP
Envy Touchsmart 15-J053TX, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080;touch)@RM3499[2.56kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8

www.illegear.com
Illegear RU-14 Pro, i7-4750HQ + Intel Iris Pro 5200 + (1920x1080 IPS)@RM3999[1.9kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS
Illegear RE-13 Pro, i5-4200M + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080 IPS)@RM3999[2kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), Backlit Keyboard, FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]

Prices are RSP, negotiable.
The V7 with 256GB SSD is the lightest among the 15".
The V7, N550JV and illegear models have IPS screen. You can opt to calibrate the screen with illegear models to make them even better for graphic work.
You can extend warranty for all brands listed here. Cost varies, check with re-sellers. For Asus, avoid the SC in LYP smile.gif

If colour reproduction is very important, and you could forget about weight a little bit, then:

Illegear RE-15, i5-4200M + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080)@RM3499[2.6kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm), FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i5-4200M - i7-4900MQ]

Hello all,

Need recommendation on buying a new laptop from all the sifu's here. Here are the details:

1. Preferred Brand :
MSI. Any other brand's that give a stylish outlook will be considered as well.

2. Budget :
less than 4k. Slightly over a bit still acceptable.

3. Usage :
Gaming. I play a lot of online game.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size :
Preferred to have backlit keyboard. If possible, light-weighted. 14" to 16" (less than 17").

Hope my request is not too unrealistic. notworthy.gif

Can use the remaining budget to buy SSD for example smile.gif (256GB ~ RM600)  icon_rolleyes.gif

Nah she won't go anything less than 500gb since she needs storage more than speed. After reading reviews, will probably go for U430T since its a more better choice. Thanks anyways smile.gif

Dell 5470 Vostro 5470, i3-4010U + Intel HD4400 + 500GB(5400rpm) + 4GB + W8

RM1799 (Dell offer RM100 off) + i get 3% off through EPP program

Worth it or is there a better alternative?

The wifi range issue previously with 5460 i suppose no longer exist with 5470?

So confused...

Sifus y510p vs ge60-20e?

Better screen?
Better gaming performance?
How's heat desipation for these 2?
Gt755m sli vs. Gtx765?
Is micro stutering a really annoying thing for gaming?
Can you add ssd on these models?

How's the gaming performance of inspiron 15 7000 gt750m?

Games i will play (Tomb raider, skyrim, bf4, farcry3, crysis3, nba2k14, other latest game titles...)
Play it on medium to high video settings, ultra is unnecessary...

Please sifu need help going to buy soon.... TIA

Gee, how many times you have to ask the same questions? icon_rolleyes.gif

Screen - can you go out and look at it yourself to decide?
Gaming performance - answer so many time already. For games that support SLI, GT750M SLI is better than GTX765M.
Thermal profile - both suck, but Y510P is slightly better.
Micro stuttering - can you go out and look at it yourself to decide?
SSD - yes.

FreeDOS means you need to get and install OS yourself. If you are attached to a education institution, you should be able to get cheap legal OS.
