Thank you so much! This is a great choice for me. I really appreciate your inputs, especially in regards to use the remaining budget to upgrade RAM and SSD. I was thinking of doing so but figured I'd do it later since I don't really have the budget to do both upgrade at the moment.

But under your suggestion, I might just be able to do both right away! So, thank you very much for your help biggrin.gif

QUOTE(franstormer @ Mar 18 2014, 06:02 PM)
Hi, need some recommendation on the upcoming 800 series

1. Preferred Brand - MSI, Asus
2. Budget - max 5.2k
3. Usage - alot of gaming [bf4, ffxiv, sc2, LoL]
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 15.6 or 17

Im planning on getting the toshiba qosmio x75 earlier but after the announcement of the 800 series feel like switching over to the msi series, is there any model that i can get before april and has the similliar spec as the toshiba's but on 800 series? i can go with a lower ssd capacity and with or without blu-ray (if got is a plus)

Thanks smile.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif

So far only MSI has released their next-gen lineups with Nvidia 800 series GPU.. even so, it will take some time for stocks to arrive..
Not sure about Asus laugh.gif

15.6"
MSI
GE60-2PE-096MY, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GTX860M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) @RM4199[Dynaudio], 8GB, 1TB (7200rpm) HDD, W8.1, multi-coloured backlid

17.3"
MSI
GE70-2PE-095MY, i7-4700HQ + Nvidia GTX860M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) @RM4299[Dynaudio], 8GB, 1TB (7200rpm) HDD, W8.1, multi-coloured backlid

*Prices in RRP
Unfortunately those with GTX870M exceeded your budget sad.gif
Use remainingb budget to opt for an SSD and RAM upgrade

**I would suggest you wait for other brands to offer their lineups of notebooks with the new GPU so that you will have more options, and that the prices will not be so expensive nod.gif (new stuffs will always be more expensive) icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi there, thanks for the swift reply smile.gif well sadly i would wait if i could >< flying off oversea on early april so  sweat.gif , hmm is it a huge difference between the gtx860m and gtx770m? if not i'll probably grab 1 of the above and throw in the ssd and ram upgrades  laugh.gif
*
Definitely must buy in Malaysia?
Is the warranty valid over where you are heading to? These are some of the things to check if you are buying and flying overseas mate! icon_rolleyes.gif

As for GTX860M vs GTX770M laugh.gif Since you have to buy in a hurry, no point letting you know haha, later you heartpain laugh.gif

I totally have no idea about these. Why not you try to bug ASUS malaysia for more details? Not to mention, that gpu is just announced recently and only known manufacturer to feature GT8xx is MSI.

Only one person would know about these yet-to-released stuffs laugh.gif
And its our God_leewhat2004 sifu haha, he's probably still stalking here and there laugh.gif laugh.gif

My friend told me to grab them in Malaysia since its very expensive in land of the rising sun sad.gif according to what ive checked on the net, its super expensive
buying there lol, tell me the difference ler xD if performance wise not much diff i might opt for the MSI since they offer newer series doh.gif else mayb i go back to
the toshiba ones, for the gtx870 series the cost shoots up to 6k?
*
I'm not sure about the prices in Japan laugh.gif But do make sure the warranty is covered over there before you buy yo.. otherwise headache! hmm.gif
GTX770m and GTX860M is more or less on par, with one performing better than the other depending on the game. However, the GTX860M will probably perform better after a few Nvidia updates imho
But I suppose for your case, going for the GTX770m won't bring about that much difference also la~

Yeah, based on the new MSI lineups, you'll need around RM6k or more for a GTX870m... We have to wait and see what Asus and Illegear offers hmm.gif

Thanks for the recommendation. I have been looking at 14R for some time. It has a great spec with cheap price, but it is quite bulky...I prefer to have some design like 5470, but of course better wifi and battery life. Is there any other alternative?Thank you.

If you want good after sales service, then these are pretty much your options nod.gif

ok..last post before getting kickout for sidetracking..

the spec locally has this part# : N550JK-CN026H, not the one shown above..  And local spec has bluray instead of DVDrw.
*
That is true, but I think the Nvidia GPU probably will be "fixed" across models..
Still, too early to tell haha, let's wait and see thumbup.gif

But according to some sources there is no option for ddr3 in the GTX 850M. And I just found out that last gen N series uses ddr3 in their GT 750M!

Its okay man laugh.gif
Its easier for us to recommend if we know what you wanted to do with the laptop ma, which is why we have the format laugh.gif
Takkan you just want a notebook with CD-ROM? haha, even a 10 years old laptop will fulfill this criteria tongue.gif

Hi , I`m comparing these two laptop

http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/product/Asus...php?prod=405092

and

http://www.ipmart.com.my/main/product/ASUS...php?prod=404867

price not big different , but core is different , anyone can spot the weakness about the i5 ?
*
The "shell" of the X and C series notebooks are probably different as well nod.gif
Do check them out and see which one you like more..

The battery capacity of the i3 variant appears to be slightly larger too based on your links (assuming they are correct icon_rolleyes.gif)
Imho, just go for the i5 if only choosing in between these two
